Well, hate to say it Sean, but after spending a fairly silly amount of time on it I am thinking that either this is one of those ideas that sounds good but is impractical on paper, or I simply haven't the talent to make it look right.

Drawing and erasing and on and on, there is no way I can think of to make a vertical UMA look like Frankenstein's Monster without either screwing up the letters to the point of unreadability, or adding so much detail to make it look like a monster that we're back in the same old legal boat.

I don't have any pics to show because I never saved the attempts, they were that rough. If someone else would like to try it, please do. As I say, it might just as well be my own skill that's the issue.

Just thought i would add my 2 cents to this, i had a few minutes before i started work today and came up with these, very simple but i was going for a more classy elegant look, although i really do like whats already been suggested, the more ideas the better

That's too bad.  I've seen some of your work, Mike---so I doubt it's your skill that's the problem.  Maybe it's one of those fun ideas that just cannot be applied to our satisfaction, like has been intimated already-------but PLEASE, if someone else wants to give it a go, have at it!  I just appreciate being part of the process here for a common goal.  I am grateful that you gave it your best, Mike and honored for your consideration.  We'll keep plugging away as a group and we'll hit gold, I'm sure.

That's some cool stuff, Artman... I don't know if the bosses can allow us to have the WORD 'Universal' as part of the design, though.  Maybe they can comment on this.

Very clean, nice looks Artman, but as Sean said, we can't have the word Universal anywhere on the shirt. I like the batwing one best!

ARTMAN666

Does that mean that nobody else can ever use the word "universal" for anything. but of course we can remove that

Herr Vogel

I love the "bat wings" design.  How about that without Universal Monster Army?

WE can always change the name of the group to United Monster Army ? >:D

Love the design with the bat wings. Truly awesome! Also love the previous design as mentioned before by Mike C, especially the one with the bandages on the M.
I do not think Universal owns the Word Universal but if you pair it up with Monster there may be an issue and they can make a case out of it.

The UMA can't use Universal Monsters on t-shirts to sell. Per lawyers from Universal. Hence the simpler design thread begun by Elisabeth.

Wow! That bat design is nice and very elegant - and still foreboding!  :o

Me Wanty! Well done Artman (Mike H. I believe?) !!!!!

Kickass efforts, everyone!  Artmann666 - thank you for the submissions!  I too really dig that UMA with the bat wings!

One comment about concerns over copyright infringement and any new t-shirt design concept we agree on.  If the design is not UNANIMOUSLY considered safe and non-infringing, we plan on getting a blessing and approval from the Universal Studios lawyers.

We have been allowed to continue our existence as Universal Monster Army including our website so it would be a shame not to be able to feature our website link or group name on the shirts.

But like Mike pointed out, sales of shirts (even as a non-profit fund raising concept) featuring the words Universal and Monster will likely not be allowed (without of course securing a formal license).

I just want to encourage one and all to keep up the great ideas and aside from obvious images, use your imagination and have fun with this!  The moderators and admins at the UMA will handle any of the legal concerns.  Thanks!

Something I was thinking of...  We probably shouldn't use anything that might be construed as a "quote" from a movie...but what if we removed
the quote marks and reversed the words?

aka:  Good....Friend!

what thinkest thou?
