Yes, I've had some before and can tell you about their origin. They were offered on the first test box. If you send in 2 proofs of purchase, they would send you a poster. If you send in 3 proofs of purchase and 35¢, they sent you a poster and a set of green and orange rubber Freakies. Indeed they are pretty rare, since it took 3 proofs and money to get them. The poster is rare enough by itself. Finding a full set of them is not so uncommon when you find them at all, because they were distributed in sets. Tim K was a friend of mine when I lived in Tucson, and he was the foremost Freakies collector around. He had most of the boxes, all of the premiums. I found him a couple of things he didn't have. I've lost track of Tim, but he's a good dude and I'd like to get in touch with him again. Ever seen the mini figures
The 7 mini figures were made of brittle plastic and the tallest one is 1 1/4". They are green and orange like the rubber ones. Goody Goody, Hamhose, and Grumble are green, the rest are orange. They are exceedingly rare. There are rings of 3 characters. Boss, Snork, and Hamhose. These are hard plastic medallion type with raised letters and features that are painted. There are 4 mini comicsThere's a set of magnets, but then there's also a set of mini magnets. The mini's are 1 1/4" tall at most. The rectangle iron on patches are common enough, but there are also 3 circular iron on patches.Fun Dots are plastic buttons with stickum on the back. There is a Hamhose Good Friends Medallion that was the only Cocoa Freakies prize and is very rare.Sayings Magnets are kinda like the Fun Dots, but are magnetic, if I remember correctly.Of course the cars and boats. There are cut out airplanes from box backs. There's a Goody Goody figure with a fruit hat, which is different from the regular Goody Goody(I'm cheating by the way, I pulled out an old copy of Freakie Magnet zine )Flip & Flys... these are little discs with a tab that you use to shoot them across the room and characters on them.Sew on patches... there are some loose ones like the ones on the caps.Wall ClockT-shirts and Sweatshirts and Knit CapsFruity Freakies Mug and Bowl SetBike FlagsAnd... boxes.
Here's something you should all enjoy, please tell me if I have the facts straight, and feel free to add your own info...I believe Freakies cereal came out around 1975-76, and the main appeal was the 1"-2" plastic toy figure inside.
