What I am THANKFUL for

Oh, I am Thankful for so much.  I've a very blessed life, filled with wonder and magic, monsters and nefarious deeds and shady characters.  I love them all.  But this is the time to be Thankful, to reflect on the things that make us happy and the offer reverent thanks for the goodness in our lives.

I am Thankful for the dragging of Prince Kharis' left leg, the green eerie light of glow in the dark plastic and paint, and hamburgers.  Yes, I am very thankful for the invention of the hamburger.
I am Thankful for black capes and the swirl of fog.  I am Thankful for the chimes of Big Ben.

I am Thankful for blood, both the real and make-believe.  I am Thankful for garish colors of Monsters Magazine covers, Grindhouse films, and the 1970's.  I am Thankful for Coca-Cola, and the yearly arrival of the Santa Cans.  I am Thankful for Hockey masks and Summer Camps.  I am Thankful for the bikini.

I am Thankful that I can see the world, (granted, with aid) and I am Thankful for breath.  I am Thankful for sweet music, any music that fills the soul and carries you effortlessly from one mundane chore to the next in the blink of an eye.
I am Thankful for castle walls dripping with lichen; I am Thankful for swamps (although I can honestly say I've never been in one) and coffins.  Yes, I am Thankful for coffins as they are marvelous multi-purpose things.  They entertain and contain, they provide whimsy and sorrow, and the coffin carefully houses the sacred clay vessel of the earthly dead and gives sanctuary to the vile living-dead when the sun rises.  That way you know where to find them.
Yes, I like coffins.

I am Thankful for the sound of a creaking door, flashes of lightning and peals of thunder.
I am Thankful for Charles Addams, prop rooms, tight black dresses, and the OCCASSIONAL cigar.  Yes, I know it goes against being thankful for breath...but I am also Thankful for my ability to be contradictory.
I am Thankful for pale skin and black hair dye.

I am Thankful for the full moon that fills the night with glorious rapturous power.  The full moon gives the entire world a kiss from God...and cradles the everyday in nighttime splendor.  The Full Moon hypnotizes me and entrances me.

I am Thankful for the gentle drone of crickets.

I am Thankful for my son and the un-describable feeling of his hugs, and his kisses.  I am Thankful for his breath, his laugh, his pouty lip, and his smile.  I am SO Thankful for his smile, which comes from his soul.  I've never seen a more genuine smile, a smile that fills his eyes, and lights up his face and my heart.  He lives through his great emotional eyes, and his sense of humor is remarkable for a 5 year old (almost 6!).

I am Thankful for turkey and Tryptophan.

I am Thankful for wine and the sound of a wolf howl.

I am Thankful for pulp magazines of the 30's and 40's and suspense filled old radio shows.  I am Thankful for Hungarian accents and lisping Englishmen.

I am Thankful for my family, my parents who made sure my upbringing was filled with love and imagination and who set me on the path for immortality.    I am Thankful for my brothers...the great joys of my soul.   Am Thankful for my brother's happiness, and their lives and loves.  I am Thankful for my new Sister-In-Law, and the love she brings.
I am Thankful for the differences in all the people of the world.  I am Thankful for freedom and peace.

I am Thankful for big bathtubs with room enough for two.  I am Thankful for chocolate and Spaghetti with meat sauce.

I am Thankful for the treasured gift of a lifetime companionship with my wife.  I am Thankful for the friendship that reaches into the soul and connects me with her.  I am Thankful for her twisted and often bizarre sense of humor and her warmth, her constant support and her love of the slightly macabre.
I am Thankful for her as the mother of my son.  I am Thankful for my family.  MY Family.

I am Thankful for skeletons, both in a practical sense and as visceral entertainment.  I am Thankful for Monica Gayle, and Barbara Steele, Carolyn Jones and Cassandra Peterson.  I am Thankful for Greek Immigrants, both in a very real sense (my precious Father, Spyros Fotinos) and in an entertainment sense, (The Master Monster Maker, Jack Pierce).

I am Thankful for Peter Cushing's bravery, and Christopher Lee's malevolence.  I am Thankful for Peter Lorre's laugh and Vincent Price's chuckle.

I am Thankful for the delightful feeling of dog kisses.  I am Thankful for the occasional head-butt from a cat that lets me know, they love me too.  I am Thankful for Ray Bradbury, and Forrest Ackerman and Ray Harryhausen.

I am Thankful for mad science, hunchbacks with shovels, digital video and tattered black coats.
I am Thankful for my friends who share so much with me...and especially those who I have never met face to face and yet give so freely and with so much love.

YEAH, THAT'S IT!
I am Thankful for love.

And Monsters.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL!
Rest in Peace,

All beasts must stay off the furniture. We don't want wolf hair all over the place. Raymond is very adamant about keeping a clean clubhouse.  :)
