Anyone who loves the sound of a good electric guitar can thank the amazing Les Paul for his many innovations.

One of my heroes! A pioneer not only of performance but technology... and not just on guitar but for all of studio engineering.
Who can forget his incredible productions with Mary Ford on 'How High The Moon', 'Mr. Sandman', and so many others? Stacks of guitars, stacks of vocals, and it had never been done before.
When he broke his arm waaaay back when, he had it set and cast in such a position that he could still play guitar! A crazy fun guy, and a real musicians' musician.
He had a long run, though; can't feel too bad about that!

God rest you now, Les!

Aw geez. I only have a few guitar major influences and Les Paul was one. He is to guitars what Frankenstein is to monsters.  I saw him live with Herb Ellis and...Charlie Byrd maybe?...I can't remember...It's Been a Long Long Time. RIP and thank you Mr. Paul.

94 years old!  I grew up listening to Les Paul and Mary Ford, watching them on tv--he was a huge influence, a far stronger influence than many people realize.  Packy hit it exactly right--he WAS to guitar playing what Frankenstein is to monsterdom.  His recordings live on!  Les Paul, like Lon Chaney, like Forry--will never die!

Everything modern music is today, it is because of Les Paul.
Inventor, innovator, composer, musician, TV and Radio personality.  Heaven knows how many patents he had.   And a pretty nice guy too.
He was true genius, and I doubt we'll see someone as influential as Les Paul for a long time.

Thanks for everything, Les.  We'll miss you.

Yeah, this one hurts...One of those stalwarts [like Forry] who you just assumed would be around forever. I took lessons many years ago from a nephew of his out here on eastern LI who learned from Les, himself. Sadly he's passed on, too. Les was the closest thing our generation will ever see to a Thomas Edison and a helluva guitar player/innovator on top of that. Not enough good things could ever be said about him. He'll never be forgotten, that's for sure...RIP and thanks for everything, Les.
