Well, To be honest. It's more like Dark fairly tale story, dark fantasy stuff. It's actually not a horror film.

I just checked online, it's listed under Dark Fantasy, and sometimes ultimately listed under Weird Fiction.

In my opinion, it's not a horror film to me. It's a Dark Fantasy film.

However, you might be right that it shouldn't be listed in this forum since fantasy is kind of bit similar to Science Fiction, but it is missing the word "non-fantasy" in this forum's title.

LOL, I can understand that. I still remember that surprising moment while me and other my college dorm friends watching it for the first time last year. After that bloody bottle to the face scene, I said "dude, give me that case, what it is rated?" and It turns out to be rated R. Because this is kind of movie that most unlikely to be made in USA, and I think that's why it was made as a Foreign film instead by the guy who did hollywood movies such as Blade II and mimic (I hadn't watch those movies yet).

When it comes to the fairly tales, many people think it as children's stories which is often true, but there was also some fairly tales created for adults about few hundred years ago too. Original fairly tales were very dark and often very scary, however it was heavy toned down by the today's standard to the point where many people call it childish stuff. some group (some book publisher and writers) toned them down and than Disney are the ones that toned it down even more farther and I really don't blamed them since they are meant to be made for families in the first place but I really feel that they shouldn't turn some of them into light hearted movies.

I can imaging myself getting punched in the face for giving dark original fairly tales to the children today since they don't want them to read those stories instead of the modern ones. They might view them as a hack versions without realizing that they are the originals.

Many dark original fairly tales were ultimately made to teach children many lessons on life in much more brutal way about couple hundred years ago.
