Knowing

Don't know why I thought this was going to be a Sci-Fi flick...
(I thought I saw mention of PKD's 'Flow My Tears' in early reviews...)

Anyway it's not & is more along the lines of the Bourne films
without the spies....sorta... still, OK for a watch~

I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.

My music is for Phoenix. Only she can sing it. Anyone else who tries, dies.

"Targets" (1968) - one of Boris Karloff's last movies, and too bad it wasn't his last, because it is a terrific swan song. Boris plays Byron Orlock, legendary horror film star (sound familiar?) who is about to retire, claiming that his brand of horror isn't selling any more.  In contrast to him is a young man, based on Charles Whitman, the University of Texas sniper. This all-American boy goes out and starts shooting people. The two are eventually brought together at a drive-in. I won't say much more in case folks here have not seen it, but it's a very intense film.

It's interesting watching Karloff essentially playing himself. It felt a lot like watching Mickey Rourke in "The Wrestler." Not that there's any similarity between these two men -I don't think Karloff was ever on the juice! ;) - but the fact that they are playing roles so close to the skin. Karloff is wonderful to watch in this, particularly at the end.

That made me laugh.

Last one I watched was ANVIL: The Story of ANVIL, the Canadian metal band.

I hadn't seen it in probably more than ten years and I was really impressed with Karloff's performance. I may have to seek it out on DVD.

American Experience: Roads To Memphis

"On April 4, 1968, escaped convict James Earl Ray shot and killed Dr. Martin Luther King. This is the fateful narrative of the killer and his prey, set against the seething, turbulent forces in American society at that time."

Excellent.
