BTW, being AT work doesn't NECESSARILY mean I'm WORKING. It's a fine distinction, but an important one.

Rio Bravo with John Wayne (thank you A.M.C.).  8)  Another Howard Hawk western highlighting Hawk's Triumphant return to Hollywood  ;D after years of self imposed exile and self doubt!  :o  thrhrt

Caught Rio Bravo last week on Netflix. Just a fun film, what with both Dean Martin AND Ricky Nelson in it. Although I know it's cheezy, I love the part where the two of them sing together!

I agree about The Shootist.  In fact, I think the whole cast was inspired.  It was also James Stewart's last appearance.  He did a voice job for an animated movie, but this was the last time he was on screen.

John Wayne did live to see the release of The Shootist in 1976.  He was cancer free at the time he made the movie, albeit missing his entire left lung and several ribs.  In 1979 he was found to have stomach cancer.  At the time he died, he had been planning to do a movie titled Beau John for Ron Howard.

True, but according to the DVD, he was ill at the time of the shooting.  :( They shot around him for 3 or 4 days before he could return to work!  :(  :(  thrhrt

It was a bad case of influenza made worse by his having only one lung.  After the cancer surgery, he had to rely on an oxygen tank even after minor exertions.  The flu, being a respiratory illness nearly did him in.

MAYTIME , with Jeannette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy.
(The music is lovely...the acting stinks, but the music and John Barrymore, are GRAND)

Yay! Bizarro Jeff- I will watch Circle of Iron anytime it is on! And I always notice something different every time.  I also watched The Octagon yesterday. And I walke around whispering my thoughts out loud for a couple of hours   :)
