Brenda Joyce, one of the beautiful "Jane" actresses

I just heard that Brenda Joyce has passed away.  In Santa Monica, aged 92, after many years of decline.  It was just announced that Miss Joyce passed on July 4.  She was Jane to Johnny Weissmuller's Tarzan at the end of his reign as the Ape Man--and then continued as Jane to Lex Barker's Tarzan.  The source I checked said she retired from film after TARZAN AND THE MAGIC FOUNTAIN (1949).

During her 10 year film career, Miss Joyce was in a couple of the Lon Chaney Jr. Inner Sanctum mysteries--PILLOW OF DEATH and STRANGE CONFESSION, and she also did one Abbott and Costello film, LITTLE GIANT.  She was also in THE SPIDER WOMAN STRIKES BACK with Gale Sondergaard and Rondo Hatton (1946).

 Hope she's swinging among the stars.  I can just see Uncle Forry playfully welcoming her with the Tarzan yell.  May your rest be a peacefull one Ms. Joyce.
