Witchboard, Satan's Cheerleaders, Simon, King of the Witches,
The Possession of Nurse Sherri, The Mephisto Waltz,
and pretty much all the movies that have been posted previously.
"They come from the bowels of hell; a transformed race of walking dead. Zombies, guided by a master plan for complete domination of the Earth."

First thought:

-Black Sunday

Couldn't agree more! A true gothic horror masterpiece where every shot is composed like a classic painting. Lilly and Mortisha both got their groove from Barbara Steele.

In no special order:
Black Sunday
Suspiria
Rosemary's Baby
Haxan:The Story of Witchcraft
The Omen
"Time flies like and arrow, fruit flies like a banana."
- Groucho Marx

Wicked Lester

I WAS gonna mention Witchboard but that is really a paranormal movie.

I totally forgot Susperia.....and one of my all time faves!!!!

No love for The Exorcist???  OK, it maybe doesn't strictly fit the definition, but demonic possession should fall somewhere in the realm here.

I cannot recommend House of the Devil strongly enough.  It's the greatest 80's Satan cult movie you never saw...

Some others that haven't been mentioned....

Drag Me To Hell
Alucarda
Christine
The Devils (Ken Russell)
The Evil Dead
The Evil Dead II
Hellraiser
The Omen
Demons (Bava/Argento)

For me it was HORROR HOTEL.  Oddly I saw that movie just as we started to learn about the Salem Witch trials in history class.  SO that got me very interested in the occult and Cthulhu and Dennis WHeatley and all that fun stuff.

Haxan: good call. Curse/Night of the Demon's still my 1st pick, but Haxan is a film everyone should see.

Horror Hotel's a great film. The title doesn't do it justice though, & I know one person at least--I know, it's his problem--who has yet to give it a look because of it.

The only currently available print of Horror Hotel is a $1 double feature that looks like hell.  Someone needs to restore it and title it with it's alternative name, The City of the Dead.

I saw it on Penny Dreadful's Shilling Shockers. Even though it was a PD print, the show made up for it.

City of the Dead is a much better title. It would probably pull more viewers with it.

"For one who has lived but a single lifetime, you are a wise man ...Van Helsing."
"I shall awaken memories of love and crime and death..."

Another witchcraft movie that hasn't been mentioned:

- Season of the Witch

This was Romero's third film. A strange study of a bored suburban housewife's descent into the occult and madness. Not my favorite or the best but definitely different. Romero fans should check it out.

I thought Romero did a very good job with this--good call.

"The House Of The Devil" ROCKS!! It isn't from the 80s though. It was made in 2009 and set in the '80s. But MAN did they capture that '80s horror vibe!!

That's what I meant.  It wasn't made in the 80's, but in every other way it's an 80's film.
