At least when Fred Willard was shooting in a theatre, it was most likely blanks, and nobody got hurt.

Too bad someone wasn't in the theatre with a concealed carry permit. This might have been stopped before anyone but the shooter was killed.

The creep was wearing lots of body armor.  anybody attempting to shoot him, would most likely have become a victim, as they attempted to target his head.

Care to expand on your extensive combat experience?  How many firefights have you been in?  How many times have you cooly put a slug in the brain pan of someone shooting directly at you?

Again. His hair could be seen. and he can only look in a single direction. Had there been two or three people with guns in that theatre, the shooter would be dead or severely wounded and those people might well be alive now.  The Knee-jerk reaction seems to be that that the guns got up on their own, hypnotised the shooter and dragged his half-conscious body down to that theatre, dyed his hair red and made him start firing, but I can tell you this: I have a Mosin Nagant rifle. It's in a corner of my bedroom, behind my hat rack where my daughter cannot reach it. It's unloaded at the moment. Moreover, unless I move it, it doesn't move itself. Gun rights are just that. All gun control laws will do is remove guns from the hands of the people most likely to use them responsibly. Criminals, on the other hand, will always find a way to acquire guns.  Why do you think that New York has a higher crime rate, than say, Houston? I did not initially want to get on my soapbox, and I do politely pose to the nice folks in charge here to observe that I made a single observation- That someone with a concealed carry permit might have been able to stop this madman before people were hurt.  Then I humbly request they observe all responses therein, before they take action .

one of the people killed was in the military and I'm sure at least one was a veteran. Had they been armed.....
