Out of curiosity, what do you dislike about Florida-I assume the heat?

Not the heat per se, but the incessant duration of the heat. I like heat. And I like apples. But if I had to eat apples all day and all night for 11 months out of the year, I'd wanna puke.

My favorite time of the year is at hand........Autumn. Except there IS no Autumn here. There's only Blast Furnace Hot Hurricane Dodging Season.

I love winter too. Except there's no winter here. There's only Blue Hair Dodging Season, as the roads and stores and restaurants fill with former extras from the TV series "The Golden Girls".

I adore Spring. It lasts 6 minutes here. I missed it during a nap this year.

I was raised in the wooded hills and mountains of Connecticut. There are no actual woods here. Only swamps on the inland, populated by refugees from the set of "Deliverance". And the state has no hills or mountains. I believe the highest point of the entire state is atop Donald 's heavily lacquered comb-over.

Florida has its bikini-clad good points to be sure, but they don't outweigh the weather, terrain, hurricanes, lightning, blue-haired drivers, and low wages.

Except for that, I love it here.

Scatter, the Florida tourism industry should hire you to write their travel brochures... FUNNY STUFF! I hear what you're saying, my family made an ill fated move to Fort Lauderdale in an attempt to relocate when i was just turning 12. They gave my old man such a run around about getting his electrician's license there he finally said the hell with it and we came back to Long Island where he was already licensed. I was never so happy in all my life.  No offense to any folks who live there and like it, but for me it was a prison sentence. I've never gone back since.

Yeah, if I was single I'd already be gone GP.......but it's tough when an entire life with kids and everything is already rooted. If I had a J-O-B somewhere up North................ZOOM!!

But I buiild pools for a living. Not a real steady Northern profession.

BTW, I just finished David McCollough's "1776", and it spent a great deal of very well used ink on the campaign around NYC and New Jersey. I'd love to see if any of the battle and encampment sites are left unpaved.

I'm from all over and I have been everywhere...kind of like the Johnny Cash song.  I live in Winston Salem, North Carolina.  My career in the U.S. Navy (Submarines and Medic with the USMC) ran me all over the globe...and I had a ball.

Nah, that only applies to those who've never actually BEEN on the grass on the other side. I have, and can therefore render an impartial and informed assessment, having experienced Northeastern, Southeastern, Western, and Southwestern living. I'm intimately acquainted with the grasses of each and look forward to replanting somewhere other than here. And the sooner the better.
