Those were prints.  The only original was the Phantom of the Opera in the frame which is Max & Jane's.  Lucky bums.

Talk about being left out of the loop.  I was there and had an awesome time, but I didn't get to meet most of you!

You were THERE?!  We needed to meet you!  We needed to talk with you!  OK, everybody back in the car--we're all going back and get this thing right!  Truly sorry we missed latching onto you!

Home from Monster Bash.  I can't remember when I was last this tired.  Oh... wait... yes I can, it was after WonderFest! ;)

Thanks to all the very kind personal words herein.  To put it very simply-- backatcha.  I feel absolutely the same way about you all-- you guys rulz too. ;)

It was lovely to see so many dear friends this weekend, put new faces to familiar names, and make some new friends to boot.

The recap that has taken place here is pretty spot on... not sure what I can add.  The thing about Monster Bash is the people... it's the friends, loved ones and folks who gather there that make it special.  I sincerely do mean it when I say that what we most miss there (aside from air conditioning and sufficient towels for the guests needs) are the folks here who were not able to be there.  Hopefully next year there will be even more UMA'ers in attendance.

Of interest to pulp/magazine collectors here a the UMA-- debuting this weekend at the Bash was the new issue of SCARLET Film Magazine, with a wonderful tribute to Uncle Forry, and the UMA's Linda "Meek" Miller in it (as well as our dear groovey Count Yorga, Bob Quarry)-- and cover art by Meek as well.  UMA members are going to want a copy of that special issue, featuring our much-missed member, for their collections.  It's really beatiful, and very touching.

I have to add another name in the mix here... it is always, always, always wonderful to spend time with Joe Moe.  Joe carries his own brand of Hawaiian magic that had all kind of spiritual properties... healing, inspiring, uplifting, encouraging.  A hand shake or hug from Joe Moe is like an electrical transfer of positive energy.  This weekend the thought struck me: small wonder our favorite Uncle lived such a long, happy life in Joe's loving care, uplifted and upheld and surrounded by the love o such a special, caring human being.

Well... you got to talk to me.  A couple times. (I even shared my cell phone with you.) *sniff* ;)

Elizabeth,

I never did get to take your picture, although just your head (not drunk or severed) is visible in the bottom of one of the group pictures in the display room.  Better yet, I should have had someone take a picture next to you.  Regardless, it was such a pleasure spending time together.  Elizabeth was the definition of dedication, a she drove overnight Thursday to get to Butler on Friday and then helped get the display room straightened out.  I wish I had that kind of energy.

Penny Dreadful

We had a grand time at the Bash!  As always, the weekend was a whirlwind of activity and was over before I knew it.  Thanks to all my fellow UMA members who came by the table to chat.

Penny, I like so much that your table was where it was, as it afforded me the chance at least to tell you how hexquisite you look--and to tell Garou to be a good pup--every time I passed by.  You're joys to behold.  Looking forward now to watching your BLACK SABBATH dvd!  A little of you, brought home to enjoy here in my House of Horrors!

BELOVED UMA FANG-MILY,
... ALAS!  :'( 'Twas, not, my year, to appear, at THE MONSTER BASH.
... Great, as usual, to vicariously "live" The Event, via your sterling posts and photos! ;D

... This was the first BASH I've missed, since A.D. 2004. My work, plus, the impending Marriage,  :-* to my Beloved, BETH, in October, has re-routed my preferred and usual continuum, of active Focus, THE CLASSIC MONSTER CELEBRATION, with, all, of US MONSTER KIDS!

... At least, I had the pleasure, of the incomparable company, of many, of you, at WONDERFEST, as well as the consummate enjoyment, of reviving COUNT DRACULA, for his performance, amid the unhallowed environs, of the UMA TOY TOUR!

... Next year, BETH and I plan, to attend more shows:
                        MONSTERPALOOSA, MONSTER BASH, WONDERFEST, etc.

... I Love and miss you, all; so, On-line parlays, sufficeth, for each EVERNOW Moment, until our Reunions, in the flesh, or, close facsimiles, thereof, shall occur.  ;)

For every one who has posted kind words about me and Jane, I am grateful beyond words. Thank you!

When Ron Adams approached me just as the Bash was drawing VERY near about putting together a display room, I thought it would be a fantastic chance to show the Linda Miller art display again. And it was! I am extremely grateful to the UMA for lending it, and to Elizabeth Haney for doing repair work to it. And for transporting it. And for helping set it up! Elizabeth, you are one great gal. THANK YOU, ELIZABETH!

A HUGE THANK YOU to Richard Olson for stepping in and providing Frankie commercial art images by the score! And a great banner and a cool "Monster Parts and Arts" sign! This was VERY last minute, as the monster artist I had lined up to send me prints of his art to display was sidetracked by an injury. Richard gave me far more than expected and did a BEAUTIFUL job!

And a big big big big BIG "Thank you" to JOE MOE for agreeing to place his Forry items in the room instead of the first room planned, and bringing a couple of extra items as well! And helping set up and man the room! Joe is one of the most generous, positive, funny, warm people I've ever met!!

I was worried that there wouldn't be enough in the room, but with my Frankie items, the LM art display, Joe's Forry display, and Richard's posters, people seemed to enjoy it. I heard many compliments on the room--with several coming from Ron Adams!

I also want to say "Thanks!" to all the UMA friends I saw at Bash who were so friendly--Rob, Robert, Sara, Jill, Brian, UMA member "shelleygodwin", Grimm Jim, Jeff, Mike, Gitta, Gord, Penny, Garou, Rebecca, Miss Drac and Connie, and everyone else whose name escapes me right now! I only wished that Terry, Raymond, Bobby, and Andy could have been there.

I also want to thank my friend Wendy for baking goodies for my get-together with friends. She made homemade chocolate banana bread pudding (Ms. Gallow wanted more the next day, as did Pat Priest the year before), and strawberry creme-filled yellow cupcakes with dark chocolate icing AND PURE REAL 24 CARAT GOLD small foil ribbons on top!! (Yes, it's edible.) I've never been able to give people a chance to eat gold before!

Also thanks to my friend Craig for helping me put together the glass display cases I bought for the Frankie display, AND TO MY SWEET WIFE JANE for ALL HER ASSISTANCE with EVERYTHING! She even made multi-color monster candies for the party! Honey, you are indispensable!

Thank you, Elizabeth, for your kind words on my article on Linda "Meek" Miller. I worked very hard on it, as she was a thoughtful, generous, enormously talented person who deserved a fond tribute and appreciation. She was also a very funny woman, and a vital part of the UMA!

I didn't get to attend, but *really* appreciate Max's thoughtfulness at displaying my portrait of the Monster and his Bride. That means a lot to me.

Max you're the best!!

Thank you!

Mike

Thank you Robert!  It was an absolute pleasure seeing you again this year.  I hope you'll enjoy the DVD.

Max and Jane - thank you so much for your hospitality.  The displays looked amazing.  I enjoyed the movie premiere too.  I think my favorite part was the sped up robo-Max.   ;D

Thanks, Penny! I had far too little time visiting with you and the gang!

Seeing friends like you was THE best part of the Bash.

Another moment at the Bash that made me real happy was seeing Ron Chaney pleased by Linda Miller's portrait of his great-grandfather :
