"Come Back" by Deafheaven

Deafheaven is my fav new school band right now. IMO they're redefining what we think of as metal.

Listen to this track and hear how brutal it is---then around 5:24 the song transitions into something beautiful and chill.  Around 6:20 the song is just hauntingly gentle. These guys are totally creative and doing something different with heavy music.

Wolfman

When will I be loved - Linda Ronstadt. What a voice!

There'll be food and drink and ghosts, and perhaps even a few murders.

SLAYER-Postmortem

Gotta follow that up with "Raining Blood."

"Raining blood, from a lacerated sky, bleeding its horror . . ."

Slayer F-ing rules!!!

"Stormbringer" Deep Purple

I'm a huge DP fan, like all the lineups, even the newer stuff. But as much as I dig Ian Gillian and Roger Glover, the MK III lineup is still my favorite. Listen to the albums Burn and Stormbringer and you'll know why. Glen Hughes and DC kick ass.

Mike Scott

I have everything up thru BURN, but used to have a few others on LP. Need to pick up some of those later CDs.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds  -  O'Malley's Bar.

If you haven't heard this epic, mass-murderer ballad.....google it, and listen. You can thank me later.

Come Taste the Band was a very good album as well. Tommy Bolin is my 2nd favorite guitar player after Jimmy Page. Listen to his solo album Teaser to hear just how great he was. Sad he died so young.

Yeah Mike I recommend Stormbringer and Come Taste the Band too. IMO "Burn" is the best DP record of all time, but I agree with Wolfman---"Come Taste the Band" is totally underrated. Tommy Bolin kills it on that record. I like his stuff w/James Gang too.

There's a great CD/DVD set for hardcore Deep Purple fans called "Phoenix Rising." I have it and love it. It has Tommy Bolin era concerts on DVD and CD, plus a documentary on the overall David Coverdale era of Deep Purple. I highly recommend the set.

Several years ago Coverdale, Glen Hughes, and Jon Lord tried to persuade Ritchie Blackmore to reunite the "Burn" lineup. Ian Paice was (and is) the drummer in the official Deep Purple lineup---drumming in two competing versions of Deep Purple would have been weird so Paice was left out of the discussions. The cool thing is Lars Ulrich offered to fill in on drums for a "Burn" Purple lineup. Unfortunately Blackmore wouldn't do it, and then of course Jon Lord died. Too bad.

Love "Burn" as well. Also, one of the best album covers of all time.
