You know it, one of my favorites!! I've recently heard respectable covers of Tenament Funster/Flick of the Wrist/Lily of the Valley on a CD someone burned for me by "Dream Theater". Never heard of them, but I like it.

That's the first Queen album I ever heard, and I loved it.  Unfortunately, they never did anything quite that good again, although they had some good music.

Give "Queen II" a whirl if you've never heard it. It's been my favorite rock album for years.

Oh!  that youtube pic is from that set of chopper posters I used to have on my wall.  The Simmons one drove me crazy as it was a landscape format.

Bobby, as you already know, I am also a big, big Ubu guy. One of my favorite albums of all time is Dub Housing. "I Will Wait" being one of the coolest rock songs of all time. Can't find it on YouTube though. Damn.

Terry, this is something they've been working on for 2 years, and was released on the 15th of this month.  It's different from anything they've ever done before musically, and it's their musical interpretation of Ubu Roi.  Before I ever heard Pere Ubu, I read the Ubu plays, several times actually.  I think I was a Freshman in high school, so 1976.  Anyway, I bought The Modern Dance when it came out, just off the name and have been a fan ever since.  This is the first time they have done anything with Jarry's work outside of using the name of a character for their band, and having a similar sense to what they do often enough as to the plays.

As you probably know, Ubu Roi debuted in Paris in 1896 and caused riots.  Ubu Roi is the only one that was ever performed in Jarry's life.  It was adapted from many of Shakespeare's works, primarily Macbeth, but had it's own twists, and it was an absurdist play with very low grade humor and was pretty bereft of eloquent dialogue, as part and parcel of the satire on what he saw as the fat, lazy, boorish upper class and royalty, who abused their position and left the rabble to "eat cake" as they plundered them senseless.

Pere Ubu's musical interpretation of Ubu Roi is as poignant today as Jarry's satire was in 19th century France.  I may have to listen to it 100 times to grasp everything that's going on in this, and it will be a great pleasure to do so.
