Not unless he found an unopened case, but that would be cheating.

And the coolest thing, ever!!

This should be interesting! What did the last one go for?

Lessee... monstertoys (Greg Schlossberg) sold one via ebay 22 Dec of last year for, I think, in the $2700 range. The one in the link is the one tat2ist (Dave V) bought via ebay for just shy of $800 in, if memory serves, 2003. It was split down the front seam and he repaired it. Also had a gouge or chip out of the seam on the bottom of the handle at the time. Dave wrote about it on the old yahoo board (or perhaps the yahoo Creature group) if anyone wants to look it up. I don't remember if it went to Frankenkid via a private deal or ebay, so can't help there. Those are the only ones I know of changing hands from the past decade. There are a few in individual's collections that I know of, mostly via photos here, in all 8 or 9 that I'm aware of. Still don't know of a carded one in ANY collection. Anyone else got more info?

Honestly, if I had a couple of thousand bucks to spare, I'd give it a go. Of course, I've wanted one for 32 years, ever since my mom bought the Frankenstein for me for one thin dime at a yard sale we went to and I found out there were such things as Universal Monster Water Guns in the world. This one sure would look pretty next to that Frank and the red trigger and yellow trigger Kongs I have, just in case someone wants to give me a belated birthday gift or something.  ;)

Pricing Creature items is nearly impossible. The market is so varied, and anything with ole Gill typically brings far more that another item of the same rarity or in the same series because of the *ahem* MONSTROUS demand. As Ray points out though, ya never know...

Regardless, best of luck to (Frankenkid), I'll be watching it closely.

Oh yeah, the counter dump of these only had 12 guns in it, fyi.

If there are "only" 12, then filling the display seems a little more plausible.  Maybe you'd have two Creatures, six Kongs and four Frankies.  If someone spent 10-20 years trying, I could see that happening.  I think I'd lose interest before I accomplished my goal.

I knew it was over two grand, but couldn't remember the exact number. I didn't realize this was the repaired one, so it might not go that high.

I think I'd run out of money long before I ran out of interest!  :D

Here's that shot from the catalog, again. (da-rool da-rool!)

So you'd need 6 creatures, 4 kongs and 2 Franks to do it right.  No problem! ;D

I think there's only 1 Frank in there. Ideally, you'd want 4 of each (and the 3 carded ones, of course). Where did I put that darn time machine?

Frankenkid called me and asked to have his name removed from a post, so I edited it.  Everyone has different reasons for wanting privacy and we try to respect that.  I know no ill intent was meant by the post.  Please just stick to Frankenkid.

Let's stick to talking about AHI.

Well, as long as we're dreaming... there's a possibility and strong likelihood that there are two versions of each card. Printed with and without Kresge markings on 'em. The only carded AHI Monster Water Gun to surface to my knowledge is the Kong Dave bought on ebay, and it has a yellow Kresge price tag (of $1.17 no less!) PRINTED on it, along with the standard "Manufactured in Hong Kong for S.S. Kresge Company, Troy, Michigan, 48084". So, assuming orders came in for the carded assortment from anywhere other the S. S. Kresge Co./ K-Mart (highly probable), and assuming Kresge Co. ordered the offered assortment and didn't arrange for only Kongs (there's no reason to suspect they would), two versions of each card; Standard and Kresge. Then there's the fact that each Water Gun came with one of two different triggers, either red or yellow.  All that adds up to 12 possible variations as a "set" of carded Water Guns (4 of each = each trigger color on each card version). But that way lies madness. As if we weren't there already. Or just me anyway.

Talk about anyone, but if someone doesn't want their real name on a public forum, we can respect that.   I know Dark Monkey God didn't mean to violate anyone's privacy preferences.  Seeing as how you're an admin on this site and none of us have even heard your voice on the phone or seen your picture, I'd think you would understand that type of request for privacy....

OK, but from now on I want to be refered to as "That Guy".

I thought we weren't supposed to post live auctions or is that something I made up in my mind, which I do occasionally.

It is generally considered bad netiquette to post live auctions, but we have no policy against it.  And I would not want to see us create such a policy.  In this case, it's something of a big deal for an AHI Creature squirt gun to be offered for sale, so I don't see the harm in posting it.

By the way, in case anybody cares, I'm not going to be bidding on this item.
