Yeah-I always wanted a Batman figure as well.
I probably had a real insect in that jar I was holding in the photo, too.

dlhenderson---Wow! Nice minty Thingmaker sets! I don't think I've seen any unused sets since I
bought mine back in the '60's.

Man dl.........I admire your restrain. Ain't no WAY I could have kept from ripping open that cellophane and firing up the old Thingmaker!

Getting back to the rubber Uglies, here's a website showing the Topps Ugly Stickers along with the corresponding rubber Uglies:

and here with some variants:

There's even some larval forms:

I used to love getting those rubber uglies and the stickers as a kid, still have some of them.
Always loved Norman Saunders art work, he did SO MUCH cool stuff.

I've been looking for the skeleton mold and the shrunken head mold for a few years on eBay. They always go for far more than I want to spend.
My hope is that one day I'll just stumble across one.
Then again, perhaps I just shouldn't be cheap.

That is a beautiful stuff or collection you have man. I'd like to see a gumball machine in person because I don't even see one of a gumball machine. However, I have some of your collection too man when I was child in that time.

I love those old dime and quater machine monsters. I use to love the rats and bats and had quite a collection as a kid. I have recently started to collect that stuff again. I literally have dozens of old 50's & 60's rubber bats and rats.

Ok, I've got memories of all sorts of rubber jiggler type monsters and other creatures that were found in the late 60's and early 70's in gumball machines and dime stores. I remember there was a gumball in Miami Bowl (a bowling alley on the southwest side of Chicago) back then. My parents always picked them up for me when they went bowling, as a surprise (though they soon became an expected gift! LOL!).

I remember a platypus type, one that was a simple lizard, and some really freaky ones like these:

Does anyone know of a major website that shows pictures all sorts of these things? I'd love to find some of the ones I had. Especially the green plain looking lizard one, the playtpus, etc. I'm dying to find pics and info on them. Any and all rubber lizard, monster, and other items from gumball machines. Anyone?

Yes, these were the Rubber Uglies that were based on the Topps stickers creature drawings of (primarily) Norman Saunders in the mid-60s. My understanding is that there were around 44 stickers made & about half that number were made in to Rubber Uglies. Many folks generically refer to all rubber critters as "Uglies" but only the true "Uglies" were the ones created from the stickers. All were given names and may have more than one name, since reissues of the stickers often gave the monsters new names. The ones you have pictured are (from top) Alvin, Kenneth, and Sandy (Alvin is also known as Edward, Kenneth as Irene, and Sandy is sometimes called Eleanor, but I believe Alvin, Kenneth, and Sandy these are the preferred names).

You've got some good ones there. I've never seen a couple before—that brown one in the middle and the blue one directly under it. They are all cool.

Yes, yes, keep them pristine, and tell me when you're ready to sell them!

I used to have a ton of Rubber Uglies back in the 70s and early 80s. I love their designs, they are just so Lovecraftian!
Crazy am I? We'll see if I'm crazy or not!
