We had a set of steps into our basement just like the ones that the little girl is walking down.  Our furnace was behind that.  I was terrified.  Because there were no backs to the steps, things would fall through there.  Sometimes we could get them out sometimes we couldn't.  There was one thing that we just couldn't get.  My dad was too big to fit behind there, but I was little so he lifted me into the back of those stairs, behind that furnace.  I got whatever it was and he lifted me out.  I forgot all about that until I saw that girl on the stairs.  It didn't leave me wanting to be an ax murderer, and I don't think I'm psychotic due to that little experience.  However, I was terrified that the washing machine would run and catch me and put me inside of it and wash me.  I never did get caught by that awful washing machine..........does anybody have an ax?

Not exactly the same setting but I'm sure many of us as kids, including myself viewed the furnace like this. Especially when were down there alone.........in the dark.

Me too! It's like being scared of Santa Claus, or Uncle Forry.

That is terrifying!  Nobody would have heard you there.  It scares me now to just think about a child stuck in the dark in a place like that.  <shudder> Were you able to sleep in the dark after that?

Packy - I see the the severe damage done to your teeth in your avatar   :D  ;)  :o.  Dr Reese would have sent me flying away from the dentist

Wicked - I love that picture!  But it doesn't show that scary washing machine.  There must've been something in me with washing machines.  My grandmother had a wringer washer and I was terrified of that, too.  And as an adult, I hate to do laundry  ;D
