My favorite comedy is monster-related: Young Frankenstein. The best parody ever lovingly crafted! Thanks to Mel, Gene and company, I can't watch the hermit scene in Bride anymore without thinking of Hackman's brilliant send-up of it!! "Wait! I was going to make espresso!"
I do enjoy watching the early Marx Bros movies for their sheer lunacy!
Mike C and others who mentioned The Producers - I hope you had the chance to see the musical performed on stage. As hard as it is to believe, it was better than the movie! But - don't judge the broadway show by the musical/movie that came out after the Broadway show. We went to see it and couldn't believe how flat and lifeless it was compared to the stage show - and the original movie, for that matter.
Also love the Pink Panther movies, especially "Return", and "A Shot In The Dark".
