Went to Home Depot and bought some decorative fencing for beds in the yard, then went to a local greenhouse and got a few more plants.  I go plant-crazy this time of year.  Vegetables and flowers both--stuff to look good, stuff to eat.  Made some chili today out of home-canned tomato juice (good eatin'!), and talked to a friend from Maryland this evening.  Sore throat is bugging me, but not too bad--just draggin' my rear a bit.  A good sleep tonight might help out.

Ran a bunch of errands then went to a very cool toy store in the middle of nowere in southern NJ.  Looked at a  lot of neat stuff.  I got some Disney stuff for my wife (our anniversary is Monday), but no monster stuff.  They had some, but I didn't get any this time out.  I did get 2 Mego-like figures of Abraham Lincoln and Uncle Sam (made by Fun World?).  In the mail, I got my autographed photo from Burt Ward.  I had gotten it signed by Adam West about 15-20 years ago when autographs at shows were free, but time ran out at the show and I never had gotten a chance to get Robin to sign it too, until now.

Lets see...I started by going to the gym for cardio (still cant lift weight with this bum shoulder!)...went to physical therapy where I was put on the Iron Maiden and laughed at. From there I came home, made lunch, walked my dog, paid some bills...watched 1 episode of the Twilight Zone, and now Im watching the end of the Yankee game.

Getting things ready for Field Day next Tuesday and Wednesday. Picked up my wife from work, went to a place across the street for a bottle of wine and $3.00 half pound burgers for happy hour. Went home, chilled out, watched DIY Network, read some of Alan Clark's "Barbarosa The Russian-German Conflict 1941-1945", online now, off to bed soon. Did get a couple of my eBay orders in: Iron Maiden The Early Years DVD and "Curse of the Devil" with Paul Naschy (thanks Wolf Man for the tip, I'll watch it this weekend).

Off to work...to an antique shop on lunch break and purchased a MEGO Mummy, home to slam some crock pot beef stew (thanks Sweety), band practice (I'm in two bands, this one is strictly 60s), home nice chat with wifey-poo, found a spot for Mummy and now hoping for some interesting UMA reading.  Elizabeth thanks for starting this so civil and warm thread. And to everyone who is participating. It is like an evening front porch without the mosquitos.

And funny... when you write it out, even cursory, you realize you had a much better day than you thought.

This really made me smile.

It's odd how if we go looking for the negative, we find it... but if we focus instead on the things we have to be grateful for, the light and color is so much brighter and more interesting!

Kinda like a Gogos painting... ;)

Went to Doctor to talk about getting hearing aids for both ears. Will have the molds made next month.
I sure hope you like yours when you get them! My mother-in-law got hers a few years ago, and it's made such a difference for her when we are out in social situations.

Still deep in pre-producing (Lord, I hate producing...) several Abe projects, in honor of Lincoln's bicentennial.

Are you a Land of Lincoln-er too, Craig? I would love to see your projects when they are done!

I have a friend who is wrangling with the unemployment office, and he has told me how horribly frustrating it is-- hang in there, and try to not let them boil your blood too much!

Yesterday was a good day. :D

A couple years back I was diagnosed with fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD) in the carotid arteries of my head (as in, under the bone).  Happily, it was found through tests (not because of trouble) and even, more happily, there is a wonderful doctor here in Chicago who is really good with this stuff.

[Side Note: Have you all ever observed that in the world of horror fandom, the "six degrees of separation" between folks ends up being a lot less than six?  I have a special doctor I see who (I believe) is with the same hospital one of our Chicago-area UMA'ers.  Wonder if they know each other?]

Once a year, I get a bunch of tests done at my local hospital, and then take those results and go into the city to see my "Brain That Wouldn't Die" doctor, who evaluates the images.  We discuss whether to just continue as we are, or if anything else needs doing.  This year, the doctor was really, really happy with what he saw.  Whether it's a fluke, or the medications, or diet and exercise... or the salubrious effects of a trip to WonderFest... whatever, it's looking better up there, and he was pretty happy about that.  Me too!!!

After the doctor visit, while I was in Chicago, I swung by WCIU to give Rich Koz/Svengoolie his Rondo-- and it was so fun to see him open the box and pick up the statue for the first time.  Anytime I see Rich, whether on the t.v. or in person, he puts a smile on my face, so that visit made a good day great.  Plus, I got a peek at the new Sven set.  ;)

At one point yesterday it struck me from the time I went to pick up Gen. Terry at the airport last Thursday, to the time when I got home from the city yesterday, I had pretty much been on the go for a week straight.  (Which is a little too much for me.)  It's really nice to have a chunk of time stretching before me without any commitments or appointments.  Hopefully I can unpack from WonderFest, do some laundry and narrow my focus to hearth, home and garden here!  (And catch up on some more Dr. Who episodes!)

I'm looking forward to life being boring for a couple days!

Woke up at 430am (didn't have to, just awake), had coffee, glanced at Monsters of the Movies Annual, fretting/pondering whether to accept a recent job offer. Presently at work & looking forward to viewing Godzilla vs Megalon on a local community college public access channel at 8pm.
