For my two cents worth, my Favorite robot has to be Robbie!  ABT 15 years ago,( I think) I saw one at a flea market that stood appproximately 12 to 15 inches high.  The "rings" in his hood rotated and the "switches" in front moved on their own.  Back then it cost about $60.00 but I couldn't get my wife to cough up the money :'( (well... I was out of a job at the time).  When I had the dough later, of course he was gone!  :o I guess I like Robbie so much because he was the first robot I remember seeing.   :-\ The original Gort and the remake are numbers 2 and 3 for me.

Robby says he loves you too and thanks you!

But for years everyone has spelled his name wrong...

His said to tell everyone it's Robby not Robbie!

Duly noted, Steve!

Hey listen, when you get a chance, could you ask Robby if he still has (or knows the whereabouts of) the watch and fob/chain he was twirling so jauntily at the end of the 'Brain Center At Whipple's' episode of the Twilight Zone? I'm glad he's no longer smoking the pipes from the 'Uncle Simon' episode, but he'd be lookin' pretty fly with that watch again!

How is this for irony...

although Robby has the title for being the most famous robot in the world, at one point his career was going right down the toilet!

The twilight zone was at the brain center at Whipple's and in 1980 he appeared with Mr. whipple in a Please don't squeaze the "Charmin" commercial.

Dudes and dudettes, this is WAY too cool!

I didn't know that Robby worked at the same store as Mr Whipple!  Small world.  As for Twilight Zone.  I never figured out why that stupid lady just didn't leave when her uncle was still alive.  Greed is a powerful thing.  Now she'll have the lawyers all over her tail if she leaves Robby.  I wonder if she's still taking care of him?   ;D  ;)

I love robots!  When I was a kid, I wanted a toy robot more than anything, but I had a speech impediment and a robot was a "wobot".  I didn't pronounce my r's.  My mother told me she'd get me a robot when I learned how to say it correctly.  She wasn't mean, and if I had worked at it and shown an inability, I'm sure she would have taken steps to help me get the therapy I needed, but in the early 60's not as much was known about that.  At any rate, I went right off to my room and worked at it for hours, and within a couple days, I said "ROBOT" with the R and they guy to the left center of this photo with the key in his head and the TV set in his chest is the one I picked.

I had a robot and space toy collection for a long time, and these are remaining from that.  Lost in Space was my favorite show, and the B9 in the top right isn't the one I had as a kid, but is just like the one I had.  You'll notice a Robby theme to this display ;D  All but the big Robby in the back are vintage.  He was made by Masudaya in the early 90's I think.

Well, most know I'm more into the later Japanese robots and my favorite from that group has always been Danguard Ace. Just today I got my 8th jumbo version of the character in the mail. To put that in perspective, most people don't have one and I know only a couple of people with 2.

I also love how you can almost trace the de-evolution of this toy across the globe. In the picture below, is the marvelous, high quality original toy from Japan on the far left. Then there was one from Hong Kong that I don't have (outbid by a collector frenemy of mine). Next to my Japanese one is an Italian knockoff, followed by three from Peru (These are insane. They have a toy gun cut in half and jammed into the arms so that a suction cup shoots out of the fingers!) and three from Argentina. Notice how the farther from Japan it gets, the worse the quality is? Dig those South American blow molds! :)

Bobby,
The robot in the far lower left of your photo is identical to one I had as a kid. It brings back some
fond memories. Thanks for sharing !!
