HI all,

I'm sure many of you know of these already, but if not, I've been having the most fun re-viewing, and re-reading the hard-cover reprints of the old Warren, Creepy and EERIE magazine. After losing my entire Creepy and EERIE collection to a flood a few years back, these are welcomed replacements!!!!  Creepy vol. 1  & 2 are available now with 3 coming in August.. not to mention a new version of  Creepy coming in the Fall from Dark Horse comics, reuniting old artists and writers with new current folks.. it could be a cool effort.... we shall see.  EERIE hard-cover archive vol. 1 is also available now.... they list for $49.99, but I've been getting them on ebay for $30-36.00. If your interested in these check out  this link...

Your welcome Hammett.. I'm really enjoying them and the glossy Frazetta covers look awesome!!!

You can also get them from Amazon for around $32 with free shipping. I have the first two Creepy Archives, and love them!! The reproduction of the black and white artwork on that glossy paper just makes the art that much better. I wish I could afford to get the Eerie's as well, but will probably have to find them used.

Glad to hear you found a way to replace your lost CREEPY's Adam, no one should ever have to live without his CREEPY fix.  I will be looking out for the new CREEPY in the fall, thanks for the info.

Hey Mike and Creepyfan,

I also love the glossy white thicker paper-stock, those B/W masterful illustrations look spectacular...:) Hey and they don't look too shabby on the book shelf either. Oh cool only $32.00 on Amazon.. I'll have to check that out most likely get  Creepy vol. 3 from there when available.

I've got Creepy 1 & 2 and Eerie 1--been hoping for these for years.

Has Dark Horse said anything about how they are going to handle reprinted stories? It's not too many issues in before they start filling in issues with older stories (or prining Creepy stories in Eerie).

Great point... I'm not to sure if they have a plan for that...hmmmm.

Adam, Dark Horse also had a 4 issue CREEPY mini series featuring Uncle Creepy and Cousin Eerie in an original story (still available from Dark Horse).  Not in the original CREEPY magazine's class, but entertaining and fun.  Can't wait for the new CREEPY this fall.  As far as the reprint stories, my guess would be that being Archives, they would likely still have the issues represented as they were originally done.

According to the Dark horse press people each isue will be reprinted EXACTLY as it appeared so we will get what we saw way back then.  Also, Dark Horse sold 4000 copies of Creepy Archives Number 1 so they are excited to contiue with the series.  Vampirella is jsut around the corner as soon as they get some more Creepy and Eerie Archives under their belt.

I will be nice to see the Vampirella books.  These three magazines were a joy to read and contained work by some of the master illustrators of the day.  It's good to see these images live again.

Not exactly. It gets a little complicated when dealing with the reprinted stories. Essentially their policy is that every story which saw print in either magazine will appear in that magazine's respective archive series once. For instance (and I was not aware of this myself until very recently), EERIE #1 was an "ashcan" edition of limited print run to secure the trademark on the title. It's made up entirely of stories that first saw print in CREEPY. So Dark Horse had to choose to either reprint all of those stories again in EERIE Archive #1 less than a year after printing them in the CREEPY Archives -- or publish the first archive of EERIE without the first issue of EERIE included. Ultimately they decided that each archive series should feature every story that ran within its respective magazine's pages, but only once. So when we get to the point where CREEPY and EERIE started reprinting themselves (as opposed to each other), the page count per issue will start to drop. Make sense? If not, it should be clear within a couple of years...   :P

artistguy

It makes sense to me.... and thanks for the information... I do really love these archive volumes.
