I stopped by Big Lots this morning and picked up a couple of genre DVDs for $3.00 each:
"Blade Trinity"
"Watchmen: Tales of the Black Freighter"
I didn't see much else of interest this time around.

I saw several TV show season collections that I haven't seen before, but nothing I wanted. The only one I can remember is FUTURAMA S4. I think there were all $6 ea.

BL has been selling complete TV season sets cheap also (as has Walmart). Between the two stores, I recently bought The Andy Griffith Show and The Untouchables for $10/season, and The Brady Bunch and I Spy for $13/season.

Obviously they are blowin' 'em out, boys. I believe "The End Of The DVD" is on the horizon. Buy 'em while you can.

[Sidenote- to add fuel to my theory, some Netflix "tv" choices are disappearing for rental, and reappearing as streaming only...]

Between Amazon & eBay, I have been fiinding lots of recently issued 2-DVD & 3-DVD special editions of great old movies in the $5.00 - $7.00 range.  Check with eBay before buying from Amazon.  Some eBay sellers already have stacks of brand new DVD's that have not been marked down on Amazon yet.

Amazon recently sent me an e-mail announcing a 75% off sale on BLU-Ray movies.  I deleted it.  I'm too old to be replacing my entire movie collect AGAIN.

No way would I try to replace everything, but I've been buying select "fave" films in blu-ray. Only the ones that are high on my list of favorites or really benefit from the newer technology- COOL HAND LUKE, CLOSE ENCOUNTERS, WIZARD OF OZ (wow), THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL and the Harryhausen boxed set (wow/great!). Plus the British THE PRISONER TV show (looks like it was shot yesterday). All of these look fabulous and a BIG difference on blu-ray. Cheap too! I always go to the disc reviews on the 'net first-very helpful in sorting out which flicks benefit from blu-ray.

BTW, also picked up at Big Lots last week for $3- THE MUNSTERS' SCARY LITTLE CHRISTMAS, KING KONG 3-disc set, and MACON COUNTY LINE with Jethro Bodine!

Dropped by  Big Lots today.

They had a couple of Ray Harryhausen movies: It Came from Beneath the Sea and Mysterious Island.

Also available was The Wicker Man (remake)and Texas Chainsaw Massacre the Next Generation (sounds like it should star Patrick Stewart, Johnathan Frakes, and Brent Spiner as choptop!)

The deluxe edition of Peter Jackson's King Kong (3 disks--three weeks of extras!) was still there.

And apparently Nicklelodeon is dumping all their animated overstock.

Looks like everything was three bucks.

This finally got to my BL about a month after Bob's post. Watched all the extras, but haven't watched the movie. (Already had the 2 disc DVD.)

Went to pick up a couple more KK05 sets and saw a DARKMAN disc (WS, minimal extras).  Glad to get that for $5.00!

I'm always inspired by this thread to drop by Big Lots whenever I'm near it....and I always walk away empty handed wondering why the Big Lots gods never seem to shine their light on the store near me!?!  I've never found one cool-must have title at Big Lots.

Man wish mine had It Came From Beneath the Sea!

I stopped by my local Big Lots this morning and picked up the following:
"Jack Brooks Monster Slayer"
"The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle" (the live-action movie from 2000)
"Watchmen: The Complete Motion Comic"
"It Came From Beneath the Sea" (colorized edition)
"Species"
"Frankenstein" (the 2004 Hallmark TV version)
"Demolition Man"
"Pan's Labyrinth"
"Terminator: Salvation" (used copy)
Plus a few non-genre films. All were $3.00 each. This was the best haul I've had in months, it seems like usually I only find one or two films.

Alot of them have restocked in the last couple of weeks- tons of stuff and alot of contemporary horror, which I watch but don't own much of.

Today I picked up a 1960s comedic oddity called A FINE MADNESS with Sean Connery. Never heard of it, and I read mixed reviews (mostly bad!) on the 'net, BUT I read he plays his character (a poet) as " a cross between James Bond and Ralph Kramden". Now how can that be bad, esp. for three bucks?

I stopped by my local Big Lots this morning and picked up:
"Highlander" (the 1986 original) $3.00
"Morons from Outer Space/Alien from LA" Midnite Movies double feature $3.00. I didn't really see anything else this time that grabbed me.
