By the way, anyone know who did the art thats on the filmland classics front page?

I'm guessing you already know the answer to this question - but that art's by Neal Adams, from his "Monsters" graphic novel. I believe it's still fully copyrighted and trademarked.

I can't grasp the mindset that just lifts art from another source and retasks it to promote their own business. Clearly Ferry and Bean haven't learned anything from all of their legal trouble.

Contact Adams. I have seen him blow up in San Diego, about someone using his art work. I thought he was going to punch someone. Yelling, Cussing. He hates This kind of stuff. Sick em.

I agree completely.  Ferry and Bean seem to be unable to come up with ANY original thoughts, concepts, or ideas of their own.  It is unfortunate that they have been allowed to leach off others talents for so long.

Yet at the CHFB (Caresses and Hugs for Ferry and Bean) they love to fantasize about how neato and swell it would be for Kim to hook up with these two... uh... non-originators. I just don't get it. I want nothing to do with anyone who owes money to my Uncle's estate. If that makes me an unforgiving jerk, so be it. I think I'm in good company.

Dear Cine-

>Yet at the CHFB (Caresses and Hugs for Ferry and Bean)<

That is a cheap shot - as well as being baseless.

If you would read much of the threads there, you would find a very tiny, very vocal handful of Ferry worshipers, sprinkled among the mass of generally Forry-leaning folks (and another tiny handful of "Forry walked on water" people.)

>If that makes me an unforgiving jerk, so be it. I think I'm in good company<

With respect, "unforgiving" and "jerk" are not too classes of folks who generally make good company.

There are a good number of people who belong to both boards. I've defended the UMA over there; sad that I now have to defend the CHFB here...

Best,

I don't care to belong to any club that will have Ray Ferry as a member. (Apologies to Groucho.)

Friend Mike, Ray is not a member there - YOU'D like it, though...

Monster Kid

Wich, why do you feel the need to defend some of those individuals on the CHFB who seem to go out of their way to insult?  I for one think your time is too valuable, don't you agree?

Wich2

MK, I did not defend an insult, or an insulter - if you know me, you know I don't roll that way.

I defended the CHFB group, which is NOT as it was characterized above.

I know... I'm one of them. Same name and everything. And the general Kumbaya attitude for a guy who lost a court battle to FJA, continued to publish a magazine and make money, yet didn't pay the judgement, bewilders me. I thought I had the right to say that here. I certainly said it there. Feel free to check for yourself. The response was something along the lines of "How much blood do you want?" I don't want blood - just what's due one party from another.

Didn't mean to tick you off, Wich2. Forry meant the world to me. A person who wrongs him means considerably less.

But that's just my opinion

Peace and love, peace and love. Kumbaya!

Connie is, which is the same thing. Anyway, I was mostly just attempting to be witty, using a quote from someone who actually was.

Yeh, that was from the guy who never (ever) lets a negative Ferry comment (or positive Forry one) go by without jumping in to prove (with geometric logic) how wrong the commentor is.

Just for the record, I consider the CHFB part of our network of allies. The folks who run that board are good people, and I consider them my monster kid friends. That being said, this community is still allowed to speak freely about likes and dislikes regarding the CHFB, Ray Ferry, and even Uncle Forry without any repercussions. This is only fair. But please keep in mind, what happened to Uncle Forry was anything but fair. If you speak well of Ray Ferry, you do so at your own risk. It takes a nation of millions to hold us back.  ;)

Dear Bossman, Mike, and Cine-

And, continuing to keep that record straight:

- I owe as much as any Monster Kid to FJA and the vintage FM
- I am fully conversant on the craziness of Ray Ferry
- I also believe in speaking the truth, here and everywhere. I was just taking issue with the CHFB (which numbers among its membership such folks as Bill Warren, Rick Baker, Don Glut, Michael Blake, Ted Newsom, Gary Don Rhodes, Martin Grams, Jr., and David Skal) being painted as some kind of bunch of suckups
- I try to be (Judeo-) Christian. That means that I do believe there comes a time when you stop kicking corpses. "FM 2.0" is dead; there's now hope for a heathy "FM 3.0," that continued bile in the Monster Kid bloodstream can only hurt.

Best to all,

I feel loving admiration for Forrest Ackerman, my feelings toward Ray Ferry run toward the negative side ( being kind here).  What really makes me sad is that a magazine that brought so much happiness in our youth, is now bringing division among monster fans.  THIS is why I personally think the title should be put to rest.  Even with the dishonorable injustice done toward Forry, I can't believe he wanted this war as part of his legacy.  I know a lot of people want to see the FM title continue, but this lunacy the title is now generating just makes me sick.  I'm in no way offering forgiveness toward Ray Ferry, but I am ashamed of what the FM title is doing.  If it can't bring happiness anymore, put it to rest.   :'(
