Wicked Lester

I guess the angry villagers will be after me shortly. I agree that the monsters were cool and the backgrounds had good atmosphere but I just never liked the show much even as a kid. I may have to see if there's episodes on Youtube since I haven't even attempted to watch one in years.
I wholeheartedly agree with Creepys that the later episodes with Scrappydoo are horrible. PUUUP-PY POWER!. Please, just shoot me now.

One question I do have what with Scooby being so popular with the wanna be show didn't do better?
Know which one I'm talking about? Goober and the Ghost Chasers. I believe Paul Winchell was the voice of the dog that could become invisible.

Wolf Man

You know Wicked Lester, I think most of the fans of the show would agree that it was only the early seasons that were the best.  When Scrappy Doo and Goober showed up and some of the other Scooby ventures they just weren't the same.  I was very disappointed in the live action film too because it did not have the classic formula or theme.  They could have done so much with it but it just did not work for me.  I would have loved to see them do the live action of the Frankenstein, Drac and Werewolf episode.  That would have been very cool for us in the UMA.  If you want to check out any of the shows just check out early stuff and see what you think.

Rot ro rump rold ropics, rut I rove rooby rooby roo!!!

The Creeper

I love Scooby Doo even if most of the monsters were really people in disguise.
Long live the UMA!

Like several over 40's, I can recall watching the very first episode when it aired. Also, if I ever missed an episode, I'd grill the neighborhood kids to learn what monster/spook was featured that week.

Oh boy, do I ever remember the first episode!  My anticipation of it is what got me through that first week of school.  It was 1969 and I had just started 3rd grade, having just moved at the end of 2nd grade from Flushing, NY to northwestern Ohio, where I was having a tough time making friends.  The fear, anxiety, and depression of those first 3 days of the new school year (School always seemed to start on Wednesdays) was offset mostly by looking forward to "that cool new Saturday morning scary cartoon, Scooby=Doo"!  I wasn't disappointed!

You know MDG, I still can't get over how much your son looks like Shaggy.  Now, every time I watch and episode I keep seeing that photo in my head.  Another ZOINKS

I love Scoob and I love classic Hanna Barbera in general. But they started going down hill with "shows" and "hours"....Scrappy doo was horrific and so was Scooby Doo and Dyno Mutt Hour....however, both charecters seperately are awesome. 2 Great dogs...and Blue Falcon was the MAN!

A great toon.  My two kiddos love the original while the tolerate the new.

For those interested the entire series of Thirteen Ghosts of Scooby-Doo comes out on dvd June 29th!  List price at Amazon is $14.99.  My girls love anything Scooby so we'll definitely be getting it and besides that any exposure to Vincent Price can't be bad!  Worst part about this show was Scrappy and on top of him they added Flim Flam who comes off just as annoying as Scrappy.

Bogey

I loved the show....top-shelf.  I even enjoyed the later ones that had a guest star.  Where else would you hear on Saturday morning cartoons, "Hey! It's Mama Cass!" ;D  My kiddos love the original run as well.  In fact, the dvd case is the most worn of any dvd set we own..

Jinkies, having grown up with Scooby Doo, I can't help but be a huge fan.  At least of the original show anyways, didn't really care for the later editions ( especially the ones with the Scrappy Puppy Doo).  Even though they always turned out to be crooks in costumes, it was groovy to see all the classic monsters and spooky creatures.  As a monster kid growing up in the early `70's, Scooby Doo was must watching.

Good grief, how I HATE Scrappy.

Oh...Scrappy simply did not exist in my world.

I a 53 year old Scooby fan. I remember watching the first episode and the promos they ran a couple of weeks before. Just like most of you Scrappy Doo can take a hike along with Scooby Dum. I liked the Scooby Doo movies with the guest stars every week . I have almost all of season 1 and all of season 3 on DVD. I never cared much for A Pup Named Scooby Doo or that awful and poorly drawn Scooby and Shaggy Get A Clue. I do have some of the new movies which are like the original show and What's New Scooby Doo isn't bad either. Did anyone see the Halloween Special with KISS? That was cool. I will pick up 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo mainly because of Vincent Price. The actual show wasn't that good.

Vincent Price justifies any purchase.
