Wolf Man

I was watching an edition of the Classic Scooby Doo the other night with a werewolf chasing them.  It occured to me that the Scooby Doo cartoon had really quite a lot of classic monsters in the show.

I just saw the werewolf episode, remember one with Frankenstein, Dracula and a werewolf, they had many shows with Mummies, ghouls and swamp creatures along with other ghosts and spooks.

It really reminded me why I was such a big fan of the show as a youngster.  This was a cartoon that honored all the Universal Monsters.

How many of you are fans of Scooby and the gang?

Has everyone seen all the monster episodes?

This cartoon will always have a place in my heart as it showed a love for the old classic monsters.

Also, we have a Mystery Machine located in Chesapeake Virginia.  I wish I had time to go take some pictures for you all before heading back to the middle east.  Perhaps next time.

Huge Scooby fan, if not for the landscapes alone! I agree, the writers there must've been heavily influenced by the Universal gang and the whole Monster Kid scene. Fun stuff, and I love the colors...especially in swamps and mansions. The greens and blues are awesome. I actually have the 1st 2 seasons on DVD and its great, packaging is really cool too!

Good luck in the middle east!

Zoinks!  Like you bet man.

Scooby was about all us 70's/80's monster kids had on the tube to hold us over until a Hammer or Universal flick came on.  My daughter became a huge fan so I got her the Season 1 and 2 sets.  They gave me a whole new love/discovery of that classic show, many episodes I remember fondly but some I'd never even seen....or just don't remember.  The backgrounds in the show were really some excellent works of creepiness some really great paintings.

We just watched disc 2 from season one last night and the episode A Gaggle Of Galloping Ghosts had Dracula, the Wolfman and Frankenstein in it.

This disc also had the classic Which Witch Is Which?, you know the one, zombie & witch searching for the armored car in the swamp.

I figured there were a lof of us UMA ers who would naturally love the Scooby episodes.  They do kind of go hand in hand.

I heartily agree about the backgrounds too, very moody and atmospheric.  Made you just want to visit those places.

My son got mad at me 'cause I told him that his graduation picture looked like Shaggy.

i absolutely love the show! Especially the earlier seasons. Man, when i was a kid, if my mom tried to drag me out shopping when Scooby-Doo was about to come on, you better believe i raised Cain, lol... ;D

My daughter also became a fan, and she has a decent collection of dvds, dolls, figures, etc.,....

I'm a big fan of the original series. The atmosphere and the various monsters were very cool... and those Scooby Snack looks delicious.

I loved the original Scooby Doo series as a kid. Still do, in fact.

I remember The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo even had a character voiced by Vincent Price. The show was just awful, though.

I'm a big fan of the fist 2 seasons plus the New Scooby Doo Movies that followed.  I still watch them on Comcast On Demand service and even have some animation cels.

While 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo wasn't up to par with the rest, Vincent Price was part of it so I even hunted down some Vincent Price animation cels.

Rock on, Scooby!

Jinkies, having grown up with Scooby Doo, I can't help but be a huge fan.  At least of the original show anyways, didn't really care for the later editions ( especially the ones with the Scrappy Puppy Doo).  Even though they always turned out to be crooks in costumes, it was groovy to see all the classic monsters and spooky creatures.  As a monster kid growing up in the early `70's, Scooby Doo was must watching.

Wow MDG, I did not know you were the father of Shaggy!  Very cool.  I don't know why your son would get mad about that?  Just tell him how hot Daphne was and he will get over it.

Yes, Scooby Doo was great for us monster kids with great memories...

Being an elementary school teacher, here's a story from one of my kids at school: He was telling me about how he and a couple of friends were going to play The Mummy at recess and he was so excited about it. First thing I think of is the new Mummy movies (with today's generation usually fleeing from black and white) so I asked him if he has seen them and he says no he's going to be the Mummy on Scooby Doo! He then proceeded to described the bandages, the walk, their game, the whole 9!

7 year old first graders acting out the classic monsters! Needless to say, I was all smiles.

I am a big big Scooby fan although I wasn't too keen when they introduced Scrappy to the proceedings.
