I saw this one as a kid and remembered alittle about it.  I knew it was a bad movie, even back then.  Been thinking about buying it.  Last week, my sister and I watched it.  It's worse then i remember.  I'm konda glad I didn't pay $20.00 for it.  Even Lon Chaney Jr. couldn't help this movie.

Wait; Lon Chaney Jr was in it?  This must be different from the two movies I know of called Dracula vs Frankenstein!

I like this movie.  Yes, it's poorly made, but I like it.  I think nostalgia has a lot to do with it, but oh well.

This movie definitely has Lon Chaney Jr.  I think there is a Paul Naschy film with the same title.  Is it an alternate title for Assignment Terror?  I don't know.   I haven't seen Assignment Terror since I was a kid.

Also Forry Ackerman  was in it  as well.I saw it at the picture show when I was a kid and bought it on vhs,but have yet to get it on dvd. It's my only weakness.

I didn't like Dracula vs Frankenstein as well and I am a big fan of 70's Euro horror. Dracula's echoing voice didn't make for a good vampire IMO.

For a much better 70's Euro Horror complete with a monster mash of Drac, Frank, and the Wolfman Jess Franco's "Dracula, Prisoner of Frankenstein" wins hands down over this movie.
"For one who has lived but a single lifetime, you are a wise man ...Van Helsing."
"I shall awaken memories of love and crime and death..."

The Dracula vs. Frankenstein we're talking about isn't Euro Horror.  It's an American production from Sam Sherman and Al Adamson.  I haven't seen the Franco film, but it sounds interesting.

When someone brings up this film, I have to show off my movie posters:

You are correct,

check out the Franco film and those are some cool posters!

The best thing about this movie is the posters! Actually, it was a stinker, but a very entertaining stinker. It was sad to see J. Carrol Naish in such bad shape, though.

I was thinking, Ray, besides the Coffin Joe gig, with your beard and dark hair, you could play Dracula in a remake of this flick! And I would gladly volunteer to play the drunken Lon Chaney Jr. part.  :D

Yeah, these three titles are often confused, and it's not surprising.  I do like the Al Adamson film a lot; I have seen it like a million times, and I get a lot of entertainment out of it.

The Paul Naschy film is fun too; that one actually scared me when I saw it on TV as a kid.  I haven't seen the third film, the Franco film, but I imagine that's fun, too.
Beautiful moving, shifting colors!

I have never seen the Naschy film, what is the title? I liked some of his other films (Werewolf vs the Vampire Woman, Count Dracula's Great Love), so this one sounds like my kind of guilty pleasure! Also, I thought "Assignment Terror" was an alternate title for "Dracula vs Frankenstein"? Are they 2 different movies?

The one I have seen has Dracula talking in some kind of echoing voice with a ring that shoots rays  and Frankenstein's face looked like a mashed mess! Don't really remember the plot, but Franco's film lacked one as well. Both films are a homage to the Universal monster mashes of the 40's, although I enjoyed Franco's take on it more.

The movie goes downhill after the musical number (yes, this is really from Dracula Vs. Frankenstein).

Didn't Gray Morrow do one or both of those posters?

I actualy like this movie, so I have the DVD already.  Granted it's a cheezy Z- rated movie, with a Frankenstein monster someone else posted here somewhere as having an "oatmeal" face, but I find this movie to be fun entertainment.  Not one I can watch more than once a year, but it usually ends up in my month long Halloween watch list.

Creature Features

Saw this once as a kid after being WEANED on the original Lugosi and Karloff films...

Didnt really impress me, and to be honest; i doubt i'll ever see it again. No offense to fans of it...it just didnt really grab me.

Y'know, I always felt that if the original Aurora models captured the spirit of the classic monster movies, the Monster Scenes were channeling this movie (as well as Naschy and a lot of the european imports from the late 60s).
