I love these colour variation threads!

Incidentally, when and how were the Palmer monsters sold? Which monster figures were included in the set?

And how similar are these Palmer figures to the ones in the Horror House Target Set?

???

The figures in that set appear to be MPC pop tops!

Just looked it up and indeed Horror House was an MPC game, which I kind of guessed from the big "M" on the package but wasn't for sure.

Ahhhh, they look to be the 2 1/2" variants!

Nope. They are the small figures, and the bullets are styrofoam balls. I have the set loose.

Yes definitely MPC, The same figures were released with the haunted hulk set.

They made white and butterscotch Palmers but they are pretty rare.  Not bootlegs, they are legit.

Were they the small ones, the ones a little over an inch tall?  If so, yes, those are legit.  Well, probably at least...  the small ones, I've seen at least 3 different types.  There is a thicker one that is a little more detailed and I think that is the first small one that was made.  They were included in some Halloween goodie bags that were sold in the 60's as party favors and to give out in lieu of candy during one of the "poison candy" scares.  Not sure if they were available any other way, but would not be surprised if they were.  There is a less thick small one, that is a little less detailed that is probably also a vintage issue.  The early ones were before the "quarter" sized large ball vending machines became prevalent.  My guess is the 2nd ones were vending items in the large balls that started in the late 60's or early 70's (someone with a better vending timeline may want to chime in on this).  Then in the 90's, there were some very flat and not very detailed ones that came out of Hong Kong, and were in bins in party stores, etc.  These were in primary colors, I believe only blue, red, and yellow.  The white and pink ones that are a little thicker are legit.  I guess all of them are legit in a sense.
