I'm not schilling for anyone, although I'm sure you would be happy to schill for say another collectible store in Ber-wyn?  I am trying to support a local show which is fun to attend. I also support Fangoria shows, Wizard world and Flashbacks Weekend. So what? If local horror fans dont support these shows, they will go away. I dont care if every film shown isnt from a Criterion print. This isnt Cannes. Its very grassroots and deserves to grow. John does a good job with the show and brings in a nice selection of collectibles to buy. Most people I've spoken with at the show enjoy it and look forward to the next one. I guess they are just blue collar slobs like me and not high falutin' film critics. I'm fine with that. Better to be the Hoi Polloi i reckon.

Life is about choices, John.

How profound!  Was that from a fortune cookie?

Funny how someone else mentions TTT's competition to the West . . . because I never did and have no intention of doing so.

I may be "high falutin'" by your definition. There was a Mario Bava retrospective at the Gene Siskel I attended a couple years ago . . . it was about as good as it gets and the admission cost was about the same as seeing one of TTT's muddy bootlegged dvd's.

This has degraded into a tiresome shouting match.

TTT/John would do well to up his game a little . . . I've no vested interest in it either way.

I attend Portage events to support the theater more than anything and will continue to do so straight across all sponsoring groups.

thats great. so i guess we wont see you anymore at the show. you'll be missed!

I have locked this topic because it has degraded into something very unproductive.

Monster movie cons run a large range in size and quality.  CHiller in northern NJ is probably one of the biggest in the country and it has grown tremendously over the years to the point where it's sometimes a bit of a madhouse.  That's not to say that you still can't have a blast.  Then are smaller, local ones like this one at the Portage theatre.  Is it top of the line in execution?  Probably not, but it sounds like a sincere effort is made to make it fun.  I'd probably enjoy it if it were near me.  I'd tend to be more interested in meeting fellow fans than watching the movies.  I, myself, am not always worried about quality, as I grew up watching them on a small B&W TV in the 1970s.  Sometimes cons work, like Monster Bash, Wonderfest, etc. and sometimes they don't.  Only time will tell.

The legality issue?  Well, as Bobby(toyranch) pointed out, there is a whole slippery slope there.  Let's not go there.
