Quote from: Anton Phibes on April 27, 2025, 09:09:54 PMWowzers. That's pretty stinky for it to be designed that way. :-\

It would be OK if it were advertised as being flat-backed.  At least you would know exactly what you are getting.  But their catalog pictures are very deceptive.

I don't see any indication in the listing:

The Amazon listing for the Wolf Man one showed the back like that, but the others didn't for whatever reason

I missed that.  Didn't see any mention of it in the text description of the Frankenstein.

The Dracula and Bride are just like the Frank in photos and description. You have to look at the WM to see what's up.

At least now, you won't be lying when you tell people you got a "half-assed" deal on Amazon!

The Cantankerous Collector

That's how all of my superhero candy bowls are too. There are also very light and need something placed inside to weigh them down.

Not necessarily specific to Halloween, but Lego is coming out with a Haunted Mansion set on August 1st. It isn't a Universal Monsters licensed set, but has a pretty good generic Frankenstein's Monster figure (in addition to a werewolf, female vampire, ghost and skeleton).

Thought others might be interested. Listed for $90, which isn't bad considering how expensive Lego sets have got: https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/haunted-mansion-31167

For anyone interested, you can find some Lego minifigures on places like eBay that look kinda like the Monsters (in case you want to get some to supplement the set):

Spirit has a rather attractive Frankenstein Door Cover.  It is described as being made of "Polyester, spandex".  Too bad it isn't offered as a large, rigid poster.  I like the image.

Not knowing anything about Lego, and its been about 45 years since i've even touched one of those plastic bricks- at 9.5" tall this seems a little on the small side.  Is that normal for these sets?

Weird! It says, "one size fits all". Are you supposed to stretch it over the door?

That's what it looks like.  The listing says it is "machine washable".  (I guess to out get out all the thrown eggs.)

Quote from: darkmonkeygod on April 24, 2025, 08:13:44 PMI know you asked Mike, but I wanna chine in: I bought one of the knock-off versions (for $10) but I'd like to find the other version of it, with the inserted eyes. I believe all four were knocked off in the fashion, and I'd like to get a set, but at no more than $50 shipped. And... there may even be a third version of the Creature. If so... I want that one too!

Aw, Jeeze.  They made a Frankenstein knockoff, too.  It is 12" wide and is being called a "Ground Breaker".

It has all the appeal of root canal surgery.

All four have been made, and in at least two versions of each and three or even four of the Creature, I believe. And while I hate that some people have been fooled into thinking they're getting the original Rubie's Grave Walkers at $35, I find these knock-offs fun... but only at $10 each.

That set looks to be a dumbed down version of the one they put out in the Monster Fighters line well over a decade ago. All those figures are re-released of figures from that line as well. Still a great value though. Makes me want to dig out all my old Monster Fighters sets.
