Doh!

Picked this up recently, and it's a pretty good reproduction of the original Don Post skull. I have a 1976 version on the right. Both are vinyl.

Interestingly enough, the older one has a more defined sculpt with deeper cuts than the remake. But I do like the larger size of the new one. Dr. Lady did a great review of it here:

ToTS shows respect for the source by retaining Don Post's name
on their reissue's emblem.  ;)  That's cool.
I'd enjoy a clear view of the text on that header card ...

Respect, or good marketing? You be the judge.  ;D

The Ghost looks more like it's supposed to compared to the other TOTS skulls.   The thicker vinyl on the Ghost holds the shape better.  It was scanned from a pre 76 plastisol skull.    The snaggle tooth 76 sculpt is a more defined angular sculpt.

They paid alot of money for the Don Post rights so they are going to use it.   It's also respect because Justin grew up loving Don Post masks and they inspired him to do what he does.

Sir, is this what you're looking for?

Yes, thanks. Is there any history about the series
printed on the other side?

Doh!

No history, Sir. Just the usual trademark and warning info. However, there's also a "Developed by Justin Mabry" credit, and "Based on classic designs of Don Post Studios."

Very cool masks. I love that the new one glows in the dark.

I was tempted to get one of those, but opted for the "thin Frankenstein" mask.
