My brother is a cop and my dad is a retired cop.  I have a cousin who is a cop.  So it is a wonder I didn't become a cop.

Cue COPS theme music...

;D :D  Oh my! I'm now haunted by "Y-M-C-A" for the rest of the day.

I'm a medical doctor, in my final year of residency training.

And a custom monster toy maker.

Now... if only the monster making and the medicine could somehow be combined...nah, that's just ridiculous.

I've been working for a residential concrete paving company for around 8 years now.....OMG, has it been that long.  The job was only supposed to be temp when my brother got me hired after I got laid off from WorldCom (where I was a technician) way back in 2000.  You name the job at the paving company (usually something to do with mucking around in dirt, concrete, mud, or moving forms) and after 8 years I've been there and done that, was even a foreman for a little while ('til the economy started sinking).  Anyone out there living in a subdivision in St. Charles or Warren county, Mo chances are I was there putting in the streets but also did work in Chesterfield, Black Jack, Jonesburg, Farmington, Fenton, etc., etc.

With the economy down I've only worked 1 day so far this year but luckily my wife works and unemployment is still paying out.  I'm getting lot's of time to stay home with my daughters and work on my monster basement, unfortunately those two things don't always gel together very well.  Hopefully they find some more work soon and if I really do have to get back to work I am a member of a Laborer's Union so I may be able to find work thru them when necessary.

hopefully you'll get back to work soon, z. the stimulus package is in large part another works programme (not sure if it's ever actually *worked* historically, but...) that seems to be kicking off with infrastructure repairs. just up your alley. :)

yeah, it'd be cool to be an artist, which is what i should have been, but i gotta say that i'm still pretty proud of being a business owner kinda guy. in all reality, seeing as how i have every thing i own in it i should have been a professional gambler. compared to others it's hardly as glamourous, but there's something to be said for not having to answer to some jerkarse supervisor (except to my wife, which is much, much worse).

artistically, i would be a screenwriter, doubtlessly doing bad horror and sci-fi movies as my bread and butter and trying to figure out how to dodge writers' guild dues.

Unknown Primate

#50
Unfortunately,  I am not currently active in the work force at this time.  However, to at least, "fit in" with this discussion, I'm listing my former duties as an unknown primate.  An unusual and fairly motley "career", I must say.
1969-'70:  Morning newspaper delivery (plus typical summer jobs til 1974, my year of graduation).
1974-'80:  Laborer, laborer, laborer!  Railroad, construction, landscaping, fence builder, etc.
1980-'93:  Professional wrestler, nightclub bouncer, liquor store clerk.  Too "even" out the some-
times dark & seedy nature of those occupations, I also worked as a weightlifting trainer
for teens, senior citizens and handicapped persons (including, volunteer work at the
                 YMCA).
1993-'06: Forced to retire from wrestling, due to injuries, I worked part-time in a gym and did a little
freelance artwork, mostly doing large-scale murals and ad posters (yes, the posters were
                 for friends who owned taverns).
2006-now:  Moved away from my hometown into a medium sized apartment and haven't made a
dime since!  Been spending my days trying to improve my artwork (monster related,
of course) and teaching myself how to sculpt.  My beautiful wife of 21 years has been
employed for 20 years and puts up with me and my pipe dreams.

At this exact moment, I post long, rambling replies on the greatest forum in the known universe (and probably, the UNKNOWN universe) ...the UNIVERSAL MONSTER ARMY.

What name did you wrestle under? Would we recognize you? I haven't watched wrestling since Tony Murino and the Iron Sheik, Jimmy Superfly Snooka, Pompero Firpo (sp?), etc...

You are exactly right about the UMA being the best place to be in cyber space!!!

Back in the day I had a chance to meet Ivan Putski after an event in Bangor, Maine.  He signed a picture for me as he was throwing his boots and gear into the trunk of his car outside the arena.   Really nice guy.  Not sure of the year, but quite a thrill for a kid.  Have not watched it in decades.

I believe I might have an old Ring Magazine around here with him in it.  I will have to take a look.
