I've had to go to Jo-Ann's to find stuff for different projects and always feel horribly out-of-place--the only unaccompanied male in a very female environment.

Tell me about it. I'm a scrapbooker. I get strange looks from the ladies when I'm shopping in the scrapbook aisle.  :o

I'm a film and television producer, screenplay and book/magazine writer, actor.
I also get paid to dress up like a loon and host horror movies.  (But these days...only in October)

But to pay the bills and to send my boy to Catholic school I'm a commercial Real Estate developer by day.
Now THAT'S scary.

Rest in Peace,

Retired!  But was a librarian/media specialist for 30 years (jr high), taught Remedial Reading and Elementary French in lower grades--and after my retirement from the school district, taught for 7 years at the University of Cincinnati--enrichment classes for retired folks (my students during those years ranged from 55 to 95 years old!).  The U.C. teaching was great fun, as I created my own classes and taught Classic Comedy Films, Classic Horror Films, Classic Suspense Films, American Popular Music 1900-1950, Everyday Life in Victorian America, and Fads, Fakes, and Frauds (all sorts of things from art fakery to quack medicine to pyramid schemes).

I go into somekind of trance when I go into JoAnns.  I'm usually singing softly to myself for some reason.  Yes, I guess I'm a candidate for strange looks.

I'm a pharmacist~been doing this for 33 years now. As my first paying gig, I worked some years at my Dad's service station, mostly driving his tow trucks (accidents, car starts, police tow-aways, etc.). My original intention was to be a high school art teacher and I took all the art courses I could in high school. A long story, but MY art teacher talked me out of my career choice one day in my senior year~said my work lacked technique & creativity and that I'd struggle to find a teaching job. Feeling deflated and knowing I needed to do something, I applied to pharmacy school after my high school graduation as an alternative. It's worked out just fine but I always wonder 'what if'?

It's never too late.

I know...but too many responsibilities right now.
Never say never, though.
