My sister Pat (6/20/49 - 5/7/22)
« on: May 10, 2022, 09:05:43 AM »
My heart is broken.  Pat was the younger of my two older sisters.  I've always been close to them, each in different ways.  I'm posting this here because she was a big monster and horror fan just like us.  We always loved watching movies together ever since we were kids.  Classic comedies as well like the stooges, honeymooners, etc.  Just within the last few weeks we watched GRIZZLY, INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS and THE BEAST WITH FIVE FINGERS.  A couple of her particular favorites were INVASION OF THE SAUCER MEN, THE KILLER SHREWS and NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. In 1960, when I was five, she and my oldest sister took me to see THE LOST WORLD and JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH as I was a young boy obsessed with dinosaurs.  We never lost our love of watching these movies together through the years. We went to many a drive-in together with NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD paired with other features. I can still hear her making fun of, "They're coming to get you, Barbara." We also went to dozens of concerts together back in the day. She was not only my sister, but my dear, close friend. I'm going to miss her terribly, but in my heart I know she is now back with her husband who passed in 2019 and with my parents and all her beloved dogs and cats she had through the years. Enjoy paradise honey, until I can hug you again one day.

It seems like you all shared many good times together. 'Wish I could've tagged along on a few,
having never enjoyed the crazy fun of growing up with sisters.

Hang on to those happy memories, Lunkenstein, and may they offset your sorrow.

My prayers and condolences to you and your family at this time. I know this feeling well: I lost my younger of two older sisters in 2017 and like you, she and I shared many experiences watching horror films and the like. Remember all the best of times you had together and try to find comfort in them til you meet again one day.

Thank you both so much for your kindness. I'm so sorry for the loss of your sister too in 2017, Memph. Looks like we were both blessed to have had such wonderful sisters who shared our mutual obsessions.  God bless them both.

So sad to hear of the loss of your loved one. She sounds like the sister any of us would love to have had.
