I guess the closed hand is for fake bomb throwing.  ;D
It's probably for holding the snorkel. But that's a good idea.

And, of course, the 2 hands at the bottom . . . JAZZ HANDS!  ;D

5 heads! Love that!
I don't mind the cape, it seems like in some high quality photos of Chaney's Phantom his cape seems to be velvety, but of course doesn't look as shimmery as this one.

Since we're on the topic, you know what's something that I wish they'd do with a Chaney Phantom figure one day. Give him the outfit he wore in the unmasking scene.
And yes, we already usually get two figures of him, in his regular outfit and his Red Death outfit, but he actually has a third outfit and it appears in the most famous scene of the movie. So it's just odd we never got it. I guess it's because there's no real production stills I've seen where he's in this outfit. But that shouldn't matter as there's already pretty high quality restorations of the Eastman cut of the movie.
Anyways, this is what I'm talking about:

Here is a model kit someone made, not quite sure who, or if it's licensed (I don't think so, but then again, the movie's Public Domain). He's actually wearing a robe in this scene, not his more commonly thought of cape. It just seems like a die hard fan would want this, so that they could more authentically recreate the scene.

Sideshow's 8 inch figure had a cloth cape/vest thing too. Cloth cape for their 8 inch Dracula and Masqued Red Phantom as well. I don't remember anyone caring about it being cloth back then. We were all just so happy to finally be getting sculpts that looked close to/ exactly like the actors. Depending on the character.

The DST Phantom had a vinyl/rubbery cape/cloak thing rather than soft goods, and a lot of folks voiced their disdain for that because it "made him look like a line backer".

Bottom line: manufacturers can't please everyone, so they make what they want and let folks vote with their dollars. I know they are fans, so I know they want to make the best they can.

I don't think their sales will suffer from the soft goods though. The soft goods could always just be put away in an accessories box and not used if it bugs one, I suppose. If you leave them MIB, then its no biggie.

They are producing the best Universal Monsters in this scale since Sideshow's offerings.... and surpassing them.

I don't have any complaints, nitpicks or what not on anything we are being shown thus far. Except maybe my dollar doesn't get as much as it used to, but that's not their fault.

The only quarrel I have had was when the Wolfman prototype was shown. That was worth griping about. That wasn't gonna stop me from getting it though. They fixed them before they were released.

What did the prototype look like?

The paint app on the face was horrible, they fixed it but the stills on the packaging still have the old paint job.

Ok, still wishing n wanting...''tis the season at least.

Hope they release Chaney figs from Laugh Clown Laugh, and He, Who gets Slapped.  A few heads versions of each of these characters just from Lon's expressive face.  The broken hearted clown face/head a must be included, and the ones my figures would wear in honor of Lons heartfelt performances

Of course a Hunchback figure too. How about a Lon Chaney as himself, scans make up, with more character make up heads, make up kit, chair, sketches etc.  A famous model done like this but all from actual photo of Lon.

There was a garage kit of that several years ago.

Think I'm going to have to stop ordering from Amok Time, even though they're one of the first sites to get these NECA figures. Got my Invisible Man figure today and the box is damaged. It's not horrible and it's mainly just the cardboard "hook" that's messed up, but I'm irritated the shipment was packed so poorly. The only packing material is a small circle of packing paper in the shipping box. And the action figure was pretty much flush against the shipping box on its front and back. The Frankenstein Accessory set I ordered from them was also packaged pretty poorly, though thankfully it arrived fine.

Unless I'm paying extra for it, I don't expect action figure packaging to arrive in pristine, collectors condition, but I'm frustrated this could have been avoided if there was just a little care when packing it.

Yeah, it could cover a bunch of the movies he did that definitely wouldn't get a full figure: Laugh, Clown, Laugh; He Who Gets Slapped; A Blind Bargain; etc...

I quit ordering from them altogether. They changed their shipping method. They ship product from a warehouse instead of packed from their store. So a warehouse employee tosses it in a box, slaps a label on it, and thats all she wrote.

Do you (or anyone for the matter) have recommendations for sites that get these figures relatively early that do a good job of packing? I've used BBTS and Entertainment Earth too, but both seem to be one of the last to get figures. Still waiting on the Leonardo x Hunchback from BBTS for example.

This is where I get mine, about a half hour up the interstate from me. They do mail order, and get stuff faster than national chains most of the time. Might try them?

I always wonder how some small stores get them sooner than, say Target or Walmart.  You'd think NECA would want to ship to the big box stores first since they likely buy more product from them.
