Would The Metaluna Mutant be considered part of the Universal Monsters line?  Hasn't he for whatever reasons been removed as a "Universal" monster?

That would be a pity! As a kid I would have loved an Aurora Metaluna Mutant model kit.

Well, The Metaluna Mutant is still being made as action figures (Super 7) and model Kits (Atlantis models) BUT the copyright Universal notices are no longer on them.  And someone here said there was some reason why Universal didn't or couldn't market it anymore.  So...might be public domain??

The original Metaluna Mutant from Super 7 had a Universal copyright on it.

The recent "glow in the dak" version has no copyright on it at all.

Strange? As far as I know, things are either copyrighted, or they are in the public domain.

Sometime people THINK they own a copyright, only to find out later, "Whoops, I don't!" 

Example - the movie Monster From Green Hell.  It has a copyright notice on the film itself, but apparently they never registered it.  So many years later film collector Wade Williams bought up prints of the film and then copyrighted it under his name.  Legal??  Not entirely sure.  Similarly, the film Night Of The Living Dead was public domain from day one - they had NO copyright notice on the film itself (mainly because the changed the title of the film from Night Of Anubus, to Night Of The Flesh Eaters, to Night Of Ther Living Dead). 

And someone claimed here that The Creature Walks Among Us also is no longer claimed as being under copyright from Universal. 

Who knows - maybe the Metaluna Mutant is just so similar to pulp magazines from the 30s and 40s with their bug eyed large brained space critters.

Very irtitating Target has not gotten the color version.  I could care less about the B+W versions.
