O cool thought it was 100 but you are correct.  2027 should be an interesting year

I mean, it technically depends on the print you're watching of the film. Sometimes this scene is in black and white. And the scene where he returns to the opera house after the rooftop scene only survives in black and white (though it has been colorized in some copies).

But still.... yeah, no one thinks of The Phantom in this outfit, in black and white.

So far, all we really have is the Mego Hunchback of Notre Dame.

In hindsight, I think I have NECA's tactic figured out. Those who only buy b/w versions will buy this, AND a color Phantom, and then swap out the b/w unmasked head and hands to the other Phantom body. Enabling them to have a b/w Phantom and Masque, without them going through the process of releasing both in b/w. Yet will still make 2 sales. If they think plan things out that far ahead. They love variants and money though: so that's my logical estimate as to their motivations, lol.

Quote from: Anton Phibes on February 14, 2026, 11:42:08 PMAre any of us thinking their Classic Monster line is done? 2 re-releases in a different color scheme seems oddly slow compared to how quickly they cranked this genre out the last 4-5 years.

Yea, it's scary to think it's at an end.  The Phantom pieces are through Chaney Ent. alone, so nothing new from Universal Monsters previewed so far.  Didn't the previews of the Karloff Ardith Bey come much later than this toy fair time of year?

Hope this may be the case as they have titles needing ultimate treatments Son/Frank monster, Ygor, Werewolf London...Seems Uni Studios isn't backing the film accurate image, with even less care than before.  Pushing the new theme park monsters, and they have created a new generic Frankenstein, that's Karloff-ish with extra claps, scars down side temple.  The other monsters Wolfman, Dracula, are just off a degree or so too.  No actors heirs payments due.

Uni has taken over manufacturing/releasing toys, products, of their properties as they own Spirit , and announced they would be pursuing this avenue now.  Perhaps this reasons the Neca Uni Monsters decline.

I hope Neca's/Chaney Ent might give us Hunchback, B/W Phantom, the clowns etc.  I think Chaney could ok them to do Ghost, Man Made Monster, Mummy's Ghost, etc as they own equal rights to images, and exploitable pursuits of said images.  Uni's choice not to share and join in on the products or profits is their's to leave on the table.

Unless the sculpts are a bit stylized/interpreted, they need to stop making static pose monsters.  It's just damned boring.  The only way they change them up is by painting then different colors.

I would be much more interested in the monsters in classic poses taken from the movies.  They have made the Wolf Man in crouching poses.  Why can't they make Frankenstein in stances like the Lugosi version of the Monster with his arms held out and down in front of him with that classic startled/frightened face?  Or a Chaney Monster with his arms above head in that "look how big I am" threatening pose in the courtroom?

Monsters who are in mid-stride, twisting around - something that suggests they were frozen in action.

Enough expressionless, arms at sides, corpse-like poses.

But they're action figures. You can pose them however you like.

This is my hope. I'd love some Chaney Sr characters that have never gotten figures before. (As well as a Quasimodo, obviously).

I chatted with the Chaney's when I was at Midsummer Scream last summer. They said they LOVED working with NECA and that they will continue to do so as much as they can. No confirmation on a Chaney Hunchback or any of the Chaney Jr. characters though.

Hopefully NECA is saving a bit of money with these variants and maybe once they feel they are financially ready they can go ahead and tackle some of the more obscure characters.  I seem to remember them doing this with the Gremlins line, since they mentioned the Mogwais outsold the actual Gremlins.

NEVER say Never, friends!

I really wish they would do "God" packs.

Frankenstein's Monster with all heads. Karloff, Chaney, Lugosi and Strange.
Dracula with Lugosi, Chaney and Carradine.
Hyde with March, Tracy, Karloff heads
Mummy with Karloff, Tyler, Chaney Parker heads
Phantom with Chaney Sr, Rains heads.

Might get weird with the likeness rights.

I dislike generic bodies with multiple head sculpts.

The monsters' bodies look different, too.
