I'm thinking of just cutting those annoying hang tags off.  If they weren't bent before I bought them, I'll probably break them just taking the figures out of the box.

Here's another interesting point of note regarding the ridiculous paper hanger tags. They don't support the weight of the figure. The back of the box separates from the front flap because the paper is flimsy and the circle tab of tape isn't strong. Go back to plastic tags, NECA.

That's my only gripe with NECA. I hate those paper tags.

YoungestMonsterKid

Yeah, I like to hang some on my wall. But I find I have to sometimes just nail them into the actual back of the box.

My local Walmart doesn't have a lot of these NECA boxed figures, but the ones they have are all laying on the ground with the hang tags broken, torn and ripped off.  I've seen some at a Target store - none on hooks - all on a shelf with the hang tags intact (a few bent - probably during shipping from the NECA warehouse to Target).

They are packaged pretty good in cases by NECA to avoid the hanger tag damage. Almost as if they know "the minute they take these out of the carton, those tags are toast, but let's get them there unharmed". The problem lies with the fact that they aren't much denser/sturdier than a few plies of paper towel. I know I would gleefully pay an extra $2 per figure for their removal from the design altogether, or go back to plastic tags. Then the next step would be upgrading to magnets instead of velcro tape for the box flaps. The glue eventually gives on those, and can result in paper tear when it does. :'(

Wouldn't you have to glue on the magnets?

The magnets would be "trapped" between the cardboard layers, rather than glued on exterior like the velcro dots.

Nope. Mythic Legions does excellent work utilizing this practice. Very collector friendly packaging (save for  twisties.)

I forgot about those velcro dots.  A couple of the boxes I have had the velcro dot on the box pull off the box and is attached to the velcro on the lid.

So...redesign the packages - get rid of the cardboard tags (saving a penny - less cardboard / less cost) and switch from velcro dots (another penny saved) to magnets (a couple cents more).

Works for me.  ;)

Had there be any discussion for the UM's as "Toony Terrors"? Seeing them continue this delightful line really makes me with for my home team. Or at least a Lugosi from "Mark of the Vampire" if we could they Dracula.

Just speculation amongst ourselves lol

Would Luv to see the Uni Monsters done in this Tooney Terrors!  The Likeness versions Toon-Ed, not the generic versions, those Cartoons have had plenty of Scary Rip Off releases already!

The Vampira is so Cool, hope they Plan a Tor, or nine or ten, or so..er uh well you know.

NYCC preview night tonight. There are pics at Toy Ark and Toy News I. Better shots of the monsterizer.

I never had the Monsterizer -- I loved the original Remco figures but I was at the age where I was getting away from toys (14/15) and more into girls -- girls weren't impressed by your toy collection so I walked away.  But I had Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolfman, Creature and Phantom and really loved them.   I'm in on these, I do wish they were the same size as the originals but I'm just happy to have them again.   Hopefully Dracula and The Phantom go up for pre-order soon.

Uh-oh, Andy, you've missed out on the Phantom. NECA has them for sale right now at their New York Comic Con booth, but their online sales were closed weeks ago. Hopefully they won't be overly expensive on the secondary market.
