This is Eyrie #1, a new monster mag from Mike Hoffman.





It's obviously in the vein of classic Warren offerings, and the current Warrant mags...Horror Anthology format hosted by The Headsman with maybe a little Marie Antoinutts thrown in there. It's printed on thick glossy paper, 48 pages (52 counting the covers). The art is good and is mostly by Hoffman (channeling Frazetta). There's also a story drawn by Jason Paulos, one of my favorite artists working on The Creeps. Paulos has a Wally Woodesque style, which leans toward the cartoony style of Ralph Reese (himself a "Wood guy") in his only story in this issue, "False Alarm". Writers in this issue are Hoffman and Jason Crawley. Overall it's a good first issue, and a promising start for a bimonthly mag.

I bought the Collector's Catch featuring the first issue (signed by Hoffman), 2 signed prints, a signed readership card with my name filled in, 2 stickers, and a really nice pinback button featuring The Headsman. It came securely packed between thick corrugated cardboard and arrived safely. The eBay link is posted below. If you just want the mag then check his other items for sale.

So now we have The Creeps and Vampiress Carmilla from Warrant, and Eyrie from Hoffman. It's a '60s Warren monster mag renaissance.

Of course, they beat the crap out of the few mags I've ever ordered from them. I don't do that anymore.
