Little Monsters? Should I be worried?
« on: July 11, 2020, 09:51:36 AM »
Just saw an announcement that Universal is working with the ToyStory 4 director to develop an all ages take on the classic monsters. My kids are grown, so I never saw Toy Story 4. Will Little Monsters be a good thing? I admit I liked the Groovy Ghoulies back in the distant past. Anybody have any pro or con sentiments about this project?

Sounds like it could be fun, so I'm cautiously optimistic until for now. Theoretically, the movie could get younger kids interested in the Universal Monsters, which I think would be a good thing. With all of the Universal Monster movies they have in development, plus the purported theme park in development, it seems that Universal is starting to give this franchise more attention.

Honestly....if it will get kids interested in moving backwards to discover the source material, it will have some merit. I am not a toddler so it obviously has no interest for me. IF I HAD GRAND KIDS HOWEVER.....

Looks interesting.  However. I think with Columbia Pictures and Sony Animation release and success of
all three Hotel Transylvania films'. That a Kid/Adult friendly Universal Monsters movie may be a little too late.

They are reportedly based on the very vicious/gritty interpretations of the monsters from Halloween Horror Nights.  I have no idea how those translate to kid friendly, but I would not mind seeing those versions brought to life on film.

Should you be worried?

Yes.  Be worried.  Be very worried.

Or, if you are a glass half full kind of guy...  Disney does know how to milk a product line for toys and the like.  Could the toys that would come from this be any worse than the Funko Pop abortions that people like to collect?

No one should be worried over this.  If it's good, great; if not oh well.  We've all survived through Van Helsing and The Mummy (2017) and I'm sure we'll all be ok no matter the outcome of this project.

Even the original films would be considered kid friendly by todays standards.

Aside from Frankenstein's Monster throwing little Maria in the lake. 👀😬

Oh yeah, this thing.
Honestly, I feel like Hotel Transylvania is already a thing. And most people will just view this (ironically) as a ripoff. If it even does come out.
