5 kids came by tonight. That beats the 3 we got last year and the 0 we got the year before that.

I think Trick -or -Treating will be a thing of the past. Just my opinion.

Happy Halloween to all.  Trick-or-Treating was kind of slow this year. Last year had about 50-60 kids, but only had about 20-25 this time around.  A few friends told me they had even less or none at all.  Some of the constantly busy areas of my city were still jam packed with kids, but not as many as last year.  Hopefully next year will be better.  After the trick-or treating hours were over I just sat around and watched movies on TCM then went to my local cigar lounge and had a few cigars and watched some more contemporary horror movies: Evil Dead and House of a 1000 Corpses.  Had a pretty good time.  Now I'm finishing off the night with a cold IPA and Watching I Walked With A Zombie (1943) on TCM.
I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity...

Well...  It's a trend.

Sounds like it will be a few years before you need to buy a whole bag of candy.

I got none - Zero.  (Did very little to lift my spirits.)

I had about five small groups of kids. They were all younger, out with their parents. I wonder what happened to all the tweens in my neck of the woods? Lots of candy left over which I think I'll donate to the food bank.
Had a great view of the full/blue moon, a bonfire and a nice bottle of red wine. All was not lost! Here's to next year🎃

Being an environmentally sensitive individual I'm reluctant to make any trips that aren't absolutely necessary. Therefore I just eat any leftover candy myself.

;)

I bought a 24 count box of Old Dutch Twists yesterday morning for the deeply discounted price of $4 and got 31. Rather than returning the box to the supermarket in a huff, I decided to be a more reasonably mature individual and just eat the extra seven bags.

I'll be checking out drugstores and food markets later today for deeply discounted Halloween candy.

This is my second year at my current house. We skipped last year and handed out candy at the in-laws because their neighborhood is always bouncing on Halloween (and the person that sold us the house said that neighborhood was dead on Halloween). This year we set up at our house and had about 50 kids, which surprised the hell out of me. Luckily I was prepared and had a nice little set up to safely hand out candy. We're looking forward to adding more to our outdoor decorations next year.

Here in Reading,  there were more than I thought going door to door.  Most of the households had tables set up outside,  but still a bit sparse,  nowhere near the usual.  However,  outside of the city in nearby Exeter Township,  my 2 grand daughters had filled bags like other years,  I was surprised,  evidently my daughter knows where to take the kids for the goodies.

The Old Dutch Twists are delicious! They absolutely melt in your mouth so you can just keep eating them non-stop.

I found a 50 count box of the Twists at a different supermarket for $6. It was the last one on the pallet so I snapped it up immediately. While there were only 52 in the box, I have to say that I still made out pretty well.

In my neck of the woods it was a totally normal Halloween. Maybe a 10% decrease in Trick or Treaters. Again, maybe. Probably about 200or so came to my house.  Most houses people were outside  with bonfires (propane powered for the most part) and had candy laid out on tables in the driveway, which is fairly normal for most years. My kids didn't notice a difference. I had several other parents ask me (before Halloween) if my kids were going trick or treating and we all came to the common conclusion that walking around outside, collecting wrapped candy from a bag, with a mask which is itself under a Halloween mask, is significantly safer than going to school everyday (as every kid here does), eating at a fast food restaurant, or going to Walmart.

Halloween happened. One of my kids was King Kong (gorilla suit with a small doll attached to the shoulder representing Ann Darrow) and one kid was Princess Anck-su-namun (which consisted of dressing like an Egyptian princess and carrying the Super 7 Mummy bucket).

The parents of two young girls surprised them with a fully decorated house, spooky games and some interesting homemade foods.

Here are a couple that I liked:
