Monsters For Sale

City Slickers, 1991 - Three lifelong friends, each with personal issues, go on a cattle drive just before they enter their 40's.

Billy Crystal, Daniel Stern, Bruno Kirby and Jack Palance (who won an Oscar for Supporting Actor.)

A movie that really has it all.  Dramatic situations, character development, man against the elements adventure, fish out of water humor, death of an important character.

Rock solid casting, beautiful cinematography and a fittingly heroic score for the expansive western scenes.

I would like to have seen Crystal reigned in a little.  He is not always as cute as he thinks he is.  But it all works to make a pretty damned good movie.

Honestly. I tried to watch Naked Gun and became bored.

Get the TV series (six half hour episodes). It's funnier in smaller doses.

I don't know why that hack,  Priscilla Presley was hired, either.  Another one who cannot act.
I don't disagree, but hotness makes up for much in our sex-driven society.

And then there's the Elvis pedigree to boot. Yep, Priscilla and nanner samiches.
ALWAYS MONSTERING...

Yes, indeed. Very hot.

Right! Very funny running gags, like the episode title the announcer says is different that the one on the screen.  ;D

"Well friends, that's all there is to life: just a little laugh, a little tear." - Prof. Echo (Lon Chaney, Sr.)

Monsters For Sale

Unforgettable, 1996 - Medical Examiner is tried for his wife's murder and found not guilty on a technicality.  Now he claims he wants to find the man who really killed her.

Ray Liotta, Linda Fiorentino, Peter Coyote, David Paymer, Christopher McDonald and Kim Cattrall.

Told through flashbacks triggered by sci-fi inspired medical experiments that transfer memory.  (But really a crime drama.)  Superior editing saves this one from being an unintelligible mess - like so many others who have tried to tackle similar stories.  Intriguing resolution.

Solid cast all around and beautiful cinematography.

I liked this one quite a lot.

Can't remember if should write this in TV section or here. Anyhow, finished Curb Your Enthusiasm season 10 a few weeks ago. Watched season 7 (the Seinfeld reunion season). Now starting season 8. Larry David is my hero.

St. Valentine's Day Massacre (1967)

Directed by the great Roger Corman. Blink and you'll miss cameos by Jack Nicholson and Dick Miller. This is one of the better pre-Godfather gangster films imo. Bonnie and Clyde the best, but this is fun movie. Then GF and GF II came along and changed everything---not just the gangster genre but cinema overall.
