It would take 2 people, but if someone took a digital photo of someone else flipping one page at a time, I could align them and gif them pretty easily.

Thanks for the offer Ray, but i have to agree with the General - rather than seeing a pretty poor quality clip from the images, I think its cooler to actually see them in action in someone's hands. The nostalgia factor kicks in...

It would be the same thing, just in a different format. I think the ani-gif wanted was a flat film clip, rather than somebody holding a book. Personally, I'd rather watch somebody flip the book, that watch a 1.5 sec. film clip.

It would be the same to a degree, but digital photos would be a much higher res than SD video, you could do a very hi-res animation from photos -  I'd like to see them shot in lovely flickering Super 8!

True! Video is pretty crappy, now that you mention it. (I suppose it would be crappy, even if you hadn't mentioned it?)

What I meant was to have someone photograph someone else holding the book and taking a photo for each flip (hands and book), then compiling it as a gif.

Yeh, I got that. You'd have to "lock down" the camera and give the person holding the book an arm rest of some sort, to avoid shaky pic.

Darn, I wish I wasn't in the UK! I have all the HD kit do do this - we could release a UMA DVD!  ;D

My dad stuck a whole box of those in my easter basket; guess it was '63. I was 11 years old.
The box looked great, nestled in there with the plastic easter grass.
Loved 'em. And yea, they were on what seemed to be standard newsprint.
That's primordial home video!  ;D

I have though often that one could make their own custom flip books by doing screen captures off the DVDs and then printing them onto archival paper and stapling the book together.

The point would be to do scenes that hadn't been done. Such as Christopher Lee bursting through the library door, or Ollie Reeds werewolf turning around menacingly inside the jail cell. Or even some of the rarer scenes of A+C Meet series, such as Karloff transforming into Hyde, or The Wolfman tackling Dracula on the balcony window and tumbling into the sea.

One day i will do it... but until then, someone else could try....

Found this on the internet, so I thought I'd post it. I added a few monster names that I knew were the subject of the flipbook. Some of the other no name ones are easy to guess, some not. If you know any others, shout 'em out and I'll add them.

The ones I can specifically remember are the Creature pushing over a car, Igor annoying Frank w/ a torch, and the Mummy on the attack. For some reason I think I flipped the Igor one most frequently. Guess I liked that flame action.

Sounds right, Mike.
Numbers 5, 8, and 33 must be the ones I referred to.
Funny how selective our memories can be.

Mike,
Just curious, Does one of the flip books include a scene from Frankenstein meets The Wolf man where Bela is flipping over a table with a couple of people under it from the festival of the new wine scene? If so, which one is it? Thanks,

All I know about them is the few I've seen a large enough pic of to read the description and I don't recall that one, off hand.
