Oh my god. The Planet of Apes franchise is right up there with my favourite movies of all time. Words cannot express how excited I am for this!!!!!!! So freaking cool  ;D

Is this a continuation of the previous 3 movies, or a new series?

Disney owns Fox now. Just sayin'.

So now the apes will all have 3 fingers and BIG eyes?

Ain't no tellin what's gonna happen. Disney ain't exactly been on a roll lately with hits. Too much meddling going on. The other POTA were excellent. I'm hoping this will be good....but I have fears.

I personally have a problem with the CGI apes. MEH
I kind of wish they would've stuck to the old apes make-up.

I have a big problem with CGI that screams at me, "Hey, look at me!  I'm, CGI!"

I love that CGI can color a sunset, insert a shadow and place birds and bugs where they didn't exist - anything that fools us into thinking it was some natural occurrence.

Has no one else seen Kingdom, yet? Overall, I liked it. There was a lot going on, but I think enough time was spent on each element. I appreciated the effort that went into world building, and it gave me a real Marvel 1970s vibe. Including the title. There were some problems, especially the climax. But I liked how it set up he next installment. Hopefully, it won't be too much of a predictable rehash, although I fear it might be.
Overall, 4/5.

I'm a huge fan of the original Planet of the Apes everything. A certain something released in 2001 doesn't exist in my world. I was cautious about Rise, but enjoyed those movies for what they were, which was not Planet of the Apes. I especially enjoyed War.

I was surprised at my lack of interest in Kingdom in the lead-up to its release. The lack of interest continued until I finally dragged myself to a theater to see it in its waning theatrical days. And I was sorry I bothered. The effects were well done, but it was like watching a Marvel movie, where it's more animated movie than live-action movie. But even that wasn't my big problem with it. The story had nothing to do with Planet of the Apes in either form. You could have easily replaced the apes with any downtrodden group of beings revolting against an evil leader. There was nothing Apes-specific about any of it, IMO. Certainly not enough. I decided then that I wouldn't bother with any more of them.

I've seen the newer films several times each, but it'll be a long time before I want to watch any of them again, where I watch the original films at least annually.

I keep it with the Tim Burton movies in the directors section. The others are in the franchises section.
