What's truly incongruous though is that they're smiling of all things while singing the song! Given the words the woman singing the song should be near to tears.

So here we have a present day French pop tart covering (pretty exactly) in English an eighties tune by an American pop-rock diva about the sybaritic pleasures of a sun-drenched Spanish speaking island paradise. Hmmmmm. Intellectually I'd say there's not much to recommend the thing.

Hah! Mamy Blue is a tune I've never heard on the radio. I'd heard a bit of it exactly once at Sam the Record Man in London in the  seventies.

But I never forgot that haunting refrain! Come Youtube I tracked Mamy Blue down on the internet, and learned that Los Pop Tops were mildly successful in Europe in the seventies. I went out and bought the single back in 2007 or so.

IMO, Mamy Blue is a 70's classic and the video goes well. OH,and I would NOT call this a guilty pleasure ,just a pleasure.
