( Found this badboy down my parents basement )

Oh, so that's where I left it.    I'll pick it up next week Robert.  Ok, so it's NOT mine, but if it were, I'd be sure to hold it rightside-up.  lol

The only Eagle that I had was one of those little ones by (Dinky?).  Like most of my old toys, long gone.  :-(

This thread has been been pure torture for me as most of my toys my parents sold at yard sales years ago.  I had Ricochet Racers, a Ghost Gun, Hugo-Man of 100 Faces, Megos (Planet of the Apes, Wolf Man, and superheroes including a Bat Man with removable cowl).  I miss my Six Million Dollar Man and my GI Joes.  The only stuff that I have left off the top of head are some Auroras monsters and dinosaurs in need of repair and repainting (someday) and an old Fisher-Price schoolbus that was mine from when I was very young.  Thanks mom, that's what you saved from the yard sale?  Oh, my brother and I each had a Colorforms alien Colossus Rex that we used to take to the pool.  Gone, gone, gone....sniff...

monsterphile my heart fully and truly goes out to you, for the same thing happened with me.  Just when you think you can trust your parents, in plunges the knife.  To quote the Bundy family "THANKS MOM".  My empty wallet would also like to give a big thanks to parenthood.  Childhood: Priceless.  Recapturing childhood: $$$$$$$$$.   :'(

I've taken a wizzer more than once.  Seriously, battling tops rocked!

I always wondered why they called it TAKING a whiz when you're really not taking anything. You're actually leaving something behind.

In the interests of accuracy, I propose that we begin the arduous process of changing the vernacular to "I've gotta LEAVE a whiz".

Ghost Gun!  I remember hours playing with it in the dark...

I limited my selections to only those toys I either had or really coveted but never managed to obtain as a kid. Accordingly I had to reject a lot of very cool toys from that era simply because I just don't remember even being aware of them at the time, e.g. Ideal King Zor, Kenner Give-A-Show Projector, MPC Pop-Tops, Ideal Godzilla Board Game, Hamilton's Invaders, MPC Horror House Target Set, Ideal Haunted House, Marx Prehistoric Times Playset....

Here then in rough order is my final list:

MY FIFTEEN FAVOURITE TOYS FROM MY CHILDHOOD YEARS

1. Mad, Mad, Mad Scientist Laboratory

2. Monogram 330P/LM Ferrari 1/32 Scale Slot Car Kit

3. Aurora Bride of Frankenstein Model Kit

4. Lionel HO Electric Train Set with Launching Helicopter and Bobbing Head Giraffe Cars

5. Revell Rat Fink Model Kit

6. Duncan Spin Tops

7. Marx Three Keys to Treasure Bagatelle

8. Hasbro Marble Maze

9. Kenner Rocky & Bullwinkle Presto Sparkle Paint Set

10. Parker Bros. Monopoly Game

11. Cox Spitfire

12. Topper Johnny Seven O.M.A.

13. Mattel Creepy Crawlers Thingmaker

14. Milton Bradley The Deputy Game

15. Coleco Power Play Hockey Game

Honourable mention goes to two items that didn't make my list because I wasn't sure they could be properly classified as toys:

Standard Plastics Creature-Wolfman Monster Wallet

Peacock Crayons

Peacock Crayons were produced by the Canada Crayon Company and were the dominant brand of crayons in my neck of the woods. The window cutout was eliminated from Peacock Crayon boxes circa 1961. These crayons of course needed the accompaniment of colouring books. I remember admiring Shari Lewis and Deputy Dawg colouring books at the News Depot in downtown London but I can't say for sure whether these were colouring books I actually had.

SSPs, both demo derby and not were heavily enjoyed in our crew, might have 1 or 2 floating about the garage still! I enjoyed the micronaut line also...

Haunted Hulk
Creepy Crawlers
Fright Factory
Hamilton's Invaders Playset from Sears
Marx Prehistoric Times Playset #3394 w/ the four mountain/terrain pieces
MPC Dinosaurs, Unbreakable Weird Monsters, & Pop-Top Horrors
Marx Universal Monsters & Nutty Madds
Palmer Monsters
MPC King Kong Playset
Strange Change Machine The Lost World
Captain Action & G. I. Joe
Hot Wheels

When I started collecting a few years ago I decided to focus on monster/dinosaur related items. I would rather have a good monster collection than several mediocre collections of different types. If I were wealthy I'd have houses full of everything, but I'm not. So, it's monsters only for me.

Frankenstein model kit - since my parents noticed I watch horror and sci fi movies and ignored
sports on TV. (Why WATCH someone play a sport when YOU can GET OUT there and play one????)
Major Matt Mason, space station, space crawler, Calypso and accessories
Lincoln Logs
Fort Apache with figures, horses, cannons, etc.
Erector sets that kept growing
My Dad's HO scale set up in our NY basement with smoke, lights, tunnels, etc.
Full size pool table and ping pong table in our NY basement.
Lego and more and more Lego and Lego, with extra Lego added
Creeple People (like Creepy Crawlers)
The Strange Change machine
Lost in Space stuff
piles of comic books which I would trade with other kids year round
Kooky Spooky Tree (NOW THAT's a GREAT TRIVIA QUESION!!!)
I will think of many more once I post this...
Thanks for sparking these memories back into my helmet tonight.

Thanks jimm and Hepcat. My parents were very good to me. I've managed to replace everything except for the MPC King Kong Playset (and except for the Captain Action, G.I.Joe, & Hot Wheel stuff which aren't monster related). I've also managed to go way beyond what I had as a kid. For example, I had one Marx Prehistoric Times playset as a kid, now I have over two dozen dinosaur playsets. I had a few Famous Monsters as a kid, now I have the whole run as well as 3,000 monster mags. By narrowing my collection criteria to monster/dino related, I've been able to focus on my favorite things and not spend money on things I don't care as much about. I'm not being critical of anyone wanting to collect a broad range of things. For me I just prefer to specialize. To each his/her own.  :)
