I bought all 4 Soapies the first day they were announced.

Sure hope other characters will be released in the future.

With better paint schemes.

With better paint schemes.

I love things that glow in the dark, so these 1st issues don't bother me.  But, yeah, I'm also looking forward to the normal paint schemes.

The Super 7 store in San Diego has the Creature soaky/soaky. Unfortunately. The store cannot make sales over the phone to customers.
Here is a YouTube video showing the Creature soapy, among other Universal Monsters. At the 3:51 mark.

I have ordered from both stores before with no problem, what was their reason for not selling these to you over the phone to you ???

The sales clerk said she cannot make sale because of a new system being installed. Or maybe she just didn't want to make a sale that day. The first was her excuse....not the latter.

Since it has become that, I changed the name of this thread.

New line of UM T-Shirts, buttons and stickers from S7. The monsters are cartoony and generic looking.

Yeah, those new items aren't my cup of tea, so I'm gonna pass on them.

Still hoping for the rest of the Soapies to come out.

I'd even go for more variant colors / glow figures carded and boxed.

Dr.Terror

Morning, noon, or night, Anytime . . . . the count may strike. If you're caught you have to linger, Cause Dracula may bite your finger!

They kind of remind me of the old Weird-Oh's and The Groovy Ghoulies designs of the 1960s. Funny that Super 7 would get the rights for these characters from Universal Pictures (likely paying a nice licensing fee) and then do generic designs for them.  They could haver saved themselves a lot of cash and just released them without the Universal name attached.

But, yeah, a big pass from me.

I think they paid the fee just so they could call them "Universal Monsters". They will probably sell more with that name attached.

Sure hope these aren't the new "official" Universal Monsters characters.  I know they've been doing generic looking ones, but these - yesh!

Count Zachula

They look like low rent Weird Ohs. I've seen so many monster artists do WAY better mash ups of the UM's with that Rat Fink style.

aura of foreboding

They are totally Weird-Ohs.  Not my thang, as they say.

Dr.Terror

They seem to be a mix of Weird Ohs, Kooky Spooks, and Funny Face drink mix.    Like others have said, not my thing.   Esp using Uni  Monsters.

Their Frankenstein looks VERY much like a Weird-Ohs design.  The Wolf Man reminds me of The Groovy Ghoulies.  The rest - just generic comedic looking designs.  If people like these, more power to them.  Personally it's a great big pass.

As to Super 7s other Universal monsters stuff, only the Metaluna Mutant & Wolf Man Soapies are still listed on their site.  And oddly, if you click on the "Licenses" link, and click on the "Universal Monsters" link, no Soapies or Reaction Figures come up - only some shirts and The Wolf Man mask.  If you're looking for Soapies or figures, you have to search for them by character names.
