The Cantankerous Collector

I just heard back from Super7 regarding the release of the other Monster puzzles and here was their reply:

"The other puzzles have not yet released. We hope to have them available soon."

Ed Repka did some PHENOMENAL Universal Monsters artwork for the packaging of the Super7 action figures! Some of these paintings were offered as prints; but, unfortunately, not all of them. I have contacted Super7 multiple times about issuing a calendar with these portraits, but I haven't had any luck with that. I was, however, able to find some relatively high-quality artwork online that I cleaned up to make my own set of prints. I did kick up the color and contrast, a bit, from his original artwork in an attempt to make it look even more like Basil Gogos. I also did tweak the color on Frankenstein and the Wolf Man somewhat.

Really amazing Brick. I wish they released the rest of the monsters!

Nice! What size are those? What kind of printer/printing method did you use?

They are all 11x14 and were printed on an HP 5500 set to high quality.

With Toy Fair 2021 now officially being scrapped altogether, and nothing being held til 2022 at earliest, does anyone think toys might be in trouble right now? Toy fair is usually a big deal. Just thinking out loud, as stuff is often delayed under ideal conditions. Current things are a tad less than ideal.

I've been wondering this myself. Everything we've seen until now was already in the works before this all happened and I do wonder how their sales have changed as well as planning for the next year.

The funny thing is seeing all the movie toy merchandise for movies that haven't yet been released. The Top Gun stuff came out months ago and then a couple weeks ago there was a lot of Godzilla v Kong action figures. Interestingly they were almost completely sold out when I was at Walmart 3 days later.

I love the Ed Repka prints Super7 released. They are some of my best monster collectibles. I too would like to see prints of the other monsters plus prints of the Planet of the Apes art too.

I did notice today that Entertainment Earth has a pre-order listing (no picture) for The Creature Walks Among Us Super7 Reaction figure. They have it being released in January 2021: https://www.entertainmentearth.com/product/universal-monsters-the-creature-walks-among-us-3-34inch-reaction-figure/sup80789
