Are the glasses still a possibility Shannon?

I haven't heard otherwise and have no reason to suspect they won't make it to market.

My two sets of figures arrived yesterday...I couldn't believe how fast since I only ordered them Monday!

Let's start with the good...the cards are absolutely jaw dropping in person. Mint on card collectors are going to be very, VERY happy. I will go on the record as saying this is the best packaging we have ever gotten on any Universal monster product EVER, and that's saying a lot. I cannot wait to see the full reveal for series two.

The figures themselves are a more complex issue...they are hit and miss, but mostly hit. There are just a few minor issues that keep them from being perfect. I really like the sculpts on all of them except for the Wolf Man. The head and body sculpt is inferior to the Funko version EXCEPT for the legs. He has the bent knee, tip-toed wolf feet that the Funko figure should have had. If you could put the Super7 legs on the Funko body you'd have the perfect 3 3/4 Wolf Man.

The only other issue is the paint. It's very neatly applied...that's not the issue. No, it's some of the color choices. The Creature has a darker dry brushed color over the green plastic that makes him look somewhat dirty.  The Wolf Man's clothing colors are too bright green and blue for my tastes...more subdued colors would have worked better. Lastly the Mummy. His head and hands are a bright minty green...the same color usually reserved for Frankenstein. It's almost like they were copying the old soaky, but decided to go brighter. It just doesn't work for me. Gray would have been a MUCH better choice, or a toned down green-gray. There will be repaints coming from me.

All in all though...I like them very much. I'm glad I bought them and will definitely be getting series two! With Super7's track record of reissuing variants I'm certain we'll be seeing glow versions as well, and I'm hoping for a Remco inspired set like they did with the Crimson Ghost. I highly recommend everyone pick up at least ONE set. I think you'll regret it later if you don't, plus supporting these will ensure future waves. We all complain about a general lack of decent Universal Monster product, so when a company goes to such effort to produce something as nice as these, we all need to step up and support it, otherwise we have only ourselves to blame if the monsters wither and die.

I'll post some comparison pics later.

What a difference 54 years make.
The regression in quality and coolness is stunning.

The Glenn Strange Frankenstein Candy Bucket is beautiful with it's accurate sculpt and garish colors. It's a shame Super 7 (or somebody) can't do candy buckets and other Monster/Halloween items in that classic Monster Kid '60s style. It seems so simple but yet toymakers today just don't get it. Maybe I'm just in the minority of the minority here.  :-\

Well, I'm with you brother. Love the carded figures, but have no problem passing on the buckets.

You are not in the minority. The people who have bought these admit they would rather have a better product. I give them credit for supporting these things, I can no longer feign enthusiasm. The buckets are goofy and the figures are worse than I first thought. The packaging is beautiful, but not much else. I can't believe how much worse the Wolfman looks when compared to the so so ReAction version. The paint is garish and the sculpt is way off (what's up with his mouth?). The Mummy doesn't look like Kharis. It's more of a fat-faced Karloff. I know people are supporting these in hopes that that series two will improve. I can't do it. I would rather have no Uni monsters toys, than this.

Yeah, I have to admit, I'm buying mostly for the artwork than the figures themselves.

I am so glad i passed on the buckets. Had no interest in the figures past the 2 sdcc i got for the halloween style cards. The paper people might have been nice but i lost interest and they never happened anyway. All it took was 1 simple lie from the owner to give me much needed pause and save some cash.

Glad some of you took advantage of the code i posted tho.

(Also, not knocking anything that any of you are enjoying, just wasnt for me)

I am so glad i passed on the buckets. …

The Frank Bucket was the only thing I bought.  The fact that I collect only Frankenstein (for reasons of expense and space) helped in that decision.  I have much looser standards for Halloween decorations.

But, I don't like anything else they have done so far.  It wasn't difficult to pass on any of their product.

I respect other collectors' opinions of this stuff.  If you love it, great.  Enjoy your purchases.

I know I tend to be too blunt in my opinions.  If you have a new addition to your family, don't show me your snapshots.  I don't fawn over ugly babies.

Thanks again for posting the SUPERSAVER code. I wouldn't have known about it otherwise. I used it for the Creature bucket and plan to use it again for the masks if it's still in effect.  :)

I'm partial to Creature stuff so I'm being more forgiving of the Creature bucket. Also, I agree with everyone that the art is topnotch for the 3.75" figures. That figure style just never appealed to me probably because I was a teenager in the late '70s/early '80s and wasn't buying toys then so the nostalgia just isn't there for me. The card art is so good I almost bought them anyway but I don't have the disposable cash to drop so I passed. It isn't the 3.75" size that I'm less than thrilled with, it's the way the figures have limited articulation but big obvious articulation joints (I love solid-molded playset-style figures of that size, and smaller, like Palmers and MPC Weirds). And, as has been pointed out by many, the sculpts on the new S7 figures leave a lot to be desired. Still, I'm glad monster toys are still being made by companies like Super 7. I'm getting some of their stuff and anything is better than nothing.

These guys are 3.75" tall and I dig them:

Just shows how tastes differ.

(Emphasis mine.)

Sadly, this sums up where we are with many of the new toys.

I can't buy what I think is inferior product in the hopes that manufacturers who have already made money on crap will take it upon themselves to make  improvements in the future.  I'm not that trusting.

It is a philosophy that hasn't worked in politics.  The "I don't like him/her but he/she will be better once they are in office, so I'll go ahead and vote for them" theory doesn't seem to work there.  What makes anyone think it will function any better in the toy market?  *

     *  Pick your party/candidate on that one.  (My only non-partisan foray into politics, I promise.)

Here endeth the sermon.

I agree.

In the bigger picture (cliché, I know) I'm glad companies are keeping the monster toy market alive in general. Granted, the same companies probably won't make available desirable products after turning out undesirable offerings, but eventually there's a small chance they might. The point is that by keeping the market alive some other company might step in and make items that do appeal to different collectors. If the market dries up totally then there's no chance for that to happen. That's why I appreciate seeing somebody still making monster toys, even if it's toys I'm not into personally.

Look, I realize that I'm far too blunt and abrasive concerning modern toys. For that, I apologize. I I could rephrase that a little more delicately. I just think these companies need to be bitch-slapped, until they get it right.

Look, I realize that I'm far too blunt and abrasive …

I've heard that sometimes happens to older people.  They tend to get curmudgeonly.  It comes out when they are surrounded by whipper-snappers.

(I hope I live long enough to see if it happens to me.)

You know what your tv screen looks like when you put it in stretch mode? That's what these buckets look like. LOL
