Mexican Frankenstein chalkware statue

Hi all,

A friend of mine at work has been after one of these figures for a while now and they don't seem to come up at all, does anyone if these things are super rare and hard to find?

Yes, they are very hard to find.


Seen here with the shorter Mexican Frankenstein (17½") and another 12" statue.

At 23½", the Mexican Son of Frankenstein statue is 5½" taller than much more common Esco statue - and usually more expensive.

They DO show up sometimes.  I just bought one.  It was delivered early today.  (I got a good deal on it.)

I have a vague recollection that one sold - maybe a year ago? - for over $800.00.  Obviously there were at least 2 bidders who really wanted that one.

Frank has a very thin crack around his right foot where it meets the base.  But it was securely glued and shows no movement.  I just need to touch up the black paint and no one will ever suspect it ever existed.

His legs look short.  I must have been tilting the camera down at him.  He stands the full regulation 23½" for these Son of Frankenstein plaster statues from Mexico.

Thanks for posting, he looks in great condition with really nice paintwork. I'm not sure how long you've been looking for one for but it was well worth the wait and I know my friend will be very jealous of it. Looks like he has a film or two to watch as well judging by the cabinet behind him

That is 3 doors of a 4 door cabinet - I have two 70" x 72"cabinets.  I put all of the movies in slim cases to allow me to double shelf capacity.

For years I had my DVD's in boxes.  It is a pure joy to mention any film and find it in seconds!

Trim to fit.  Almost all of the titles are still easy to read - only a few are a bit harder.  (Since they are alphabetized it doesn't cause a problem.)

For cardboard cases, I pull the extra thickness away from the printed paper and insert the artwork under the clear plastic of the 7mm case.

For fold-out cases, I buy multi-disc cases that don't layer the discs - cuts way down on scratches and takes up less room.

For the amount of movies I have, It was a big project.  But I really like the result.

It's interesting to note that these particular statues, almost any of the 3 sizes here, have different paint schemes.  I have a large Frankenstein, I'm sure the paint is all original, with a different paint scheme. I purchased him at an antique co-op about 5 years ago, for around 320.00.  It also seems as though the large size suffers more from paint chips and plaster cracks.
