Watched "Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman" this afternoon. Bela is by far my least favorite Frankenstein Monster (yes, I know it really wasn't his fault).

It really wasn't. Without the dialog in Ygor's voice, it was pointless to subject poor Béla to the rigors of that make-up process at, what, 62? And playing him as mostly blind and "sick" from being in the ice, without telling the audience. I really feel sorry that his one chance to play Frankenstein's Monster ended up being that botched mess. At least he was able to redeem himself with reprising Dracula to great effect at 67 in A&CMF.

I also read somewhere than Chaney Jr. was to play both roles (Wolfman & the monster), but was deemed too difficult to pull off at the time (or, maybe, too gimmicky).

The Old Dark House (last night) - I'm not sure why, but I love this film (maybe it has to do with Ernest Thesiger being in it).

House of Dracula 1945 - in memory of Jane Adams. Also watched the 1949 Serial - Batman and Robin, in which Jane was the first Vicky Vale on Film. Rest in peace Jane. Farewell. I'm surprised there is not a thread on Jane's passing (5/21/2014) in "The Cemetery" section of this site. Maybe there is -- and /I did not see it.

Earlier today:

The Phantom of the Opera 1925
Dracula 1931

It has been a tough couple of months. We of the UMA have lost two beautiful actresses, and human beings in Jane Adams and Carla Laemmle. The beautiful, and talented actress Martha Hyer also left us on 5/31/2014. It feels like some "favorite family members" have passed away. I haven't been this sad, since my little brother passed away.
